I don't think it's really a big coincidence. It happens all the time in baseball, and there's no cap: player delays surgery to try rehab, rehab fails, player ends up getting surgery months later and missing more time than they would have if they had opted for the surgery immediately. I think the timing lining up in a way that's favorable to TB is a lot more likely than a) a team actually approaching a top-10 player in the world and asking him to needlessly sit out an entire season in the middle of his prime, and the player actually agreeing to do it. I don't think you become as good as Kucherov if you're cool sitting on your couch in your age-27 season instead of being out there contending for scoring titles and MVP awards.
  2. Finally. I've been wanting this for years.
  3. Every time I read a story about a player tripping on a lego or falling while carrying his kid or whatever I assume its a cover story for hurting themselves doing something reckless, likely while inebriated.
  4. Being a GM must takes years off your life. I can't imagine Ross slept well after the guy he gambled 5.5M on blew up before throwing a regular season pitch. I'd be pissed if that happened in fantasy baseball and there's no national spotlight or corporate overlord wondering where their money went.
  5. Yeah, it wasn't a bad gamble. A healthy Yates could have made a difference of 2-3 wins.

Why would he agree to this?
  8. Seems thread-worthy
  9. That's a big if. I hope pOhtani stays healthy, but I've seen enough to not invest anything in that playing out. I just don't trust the arm at all. If I'm holding him in dynasty and someone offers Martin I accept without thinking twice. That obviously changes in leagues where you hold pOhtani and hOhtani and can't separate them.
  10. Martin easily for me.
  11. Zac Gallen might be broken
  12. Ohtani leading off and goes 2-2 with a walk and an opposite field double off the wall. On the mound he strikes out 5 over 4 great innings sitting 99-101. Days like today remind you how fun it would be if he can put a healthy season together.
  13. Ohtani is pitching and hitting leadoff today. Hasn't happened in a regular season game since 1901. Led off with a clean single against Snell.

I still don’t understand what people think is going in with the Kucherov situation. The absolute worst case scenario seems to be that they hold him out a couple of games if he’s ready a week early or whatever.

So are the Leafs going to be shopping for a goalie before the deadline?
  16. Terminator has agreed to take over The Bad Guy's team. TBG hasn't done anything with his team this offseason, and hasn't responded to attempts to contact him.
  17. Darvish is the worst pick of the draft.
  18. Sent the invite.
  19. Awesome. Same e-mail you use for Fantrax?
  20. Damn, seems like it would be an ideal speed and level for you IMO. It's actually better now. Spanky, TCA and Jim are all in.
  21. I still need one person. Draft is Thursday at 8 PM ET.
  22. Are you guys even going to make it?
  23. Two recent returns for Mike Trout in forum leagues: Albies Olson Buehler Paddack Devin Williams Bieber Bichette I think that puts into perspective how crazy it would be to pass on Trout and take Vlad. Nobody would currently move anything close to those packages for Vlad.
  24. If you're going full Jays homer, is there even a reason to consider Vladdy over Bichette? Bo is only a year older, has outhit Vlad in the majors, and is going to stick at short (probably). Vlad has already lost 3B eligibility, and might never get it back.
  25. That's absurd. I took Brett Lawrie in the 2nd round of the initial DDL draft, so I'm an authority on team-crippling fantasy homerism and you should listen to me.
