I think and hope he walks away. Everything seems to point in that direction: - expiring contract - consecutive lost seasons - not close to any personal milestones that would be worth chasing Would be nice to see the Reds get to the playoffs for him one last time

There's no way Ohtani is going to agree to stop pitching. Not yet anyway.

No power to speak of yet, but his plate discipline is insane for a 21-year old seeing major league pitching after less than 100 minor league PA: 23% O-swing 83% Z-swing so far.

I wonder if he could have avoided some of the UCL damage if he shut down the pitching side a couple months ago when he started getting "fatigued" and leaving starts early.

He should still clear 400M. Judge got 360M, and Ohtani is the same caliber of hitter, and should still throw at least some innings over the deal. People point to Judge's OF defense, but IMO there's no reason to think Ohtani can't be a good RF if he's not pitching.
