I think current arb operates at something like 20/40/60 % of a player's estimated market value in arb years 1, 2 and 3. Means would be expected to make significantly more healthy going into arb3 than the ~3M he was expected to make via arb1 for a season he wasn't expected to pitch. It's why a lot of injured arb-eligible pitchers just sign multi-year deals with their teams. The alternative is often being non-tendered.

He didn't go through the arb system. He signed a two-year deal with the team after getting hurt, before the 2022 season. Even injured, arb would have had him at around 3M for 2022.

Means might be pitching for a contract right now. 2024 is his last arb year, and he'll likely be due 7-10M. Could see Baltimore non-tendering him if the velo/stuff doesn't tick up through October. Their willingness to get outside help for their rotation in the offseason will be a good indicator of how serious they are about winning.

DDL is king. If I have a player in the DDL, and my opponent has him in any other league, I'm always rooting for him to mash.

In 4 years when Baltimore's entire core are Angelos casualties, TB will still be winning 95+ games annually. They are inevitable.

Yeah. Stanton could stay healthy next year and blast 35 homeruns or something. Conforto hasn't been a viable contributor since 2020 - don't see the same upside there.

I remember targeting Caminero in all dynasty leagues last year and getting him in exactly none of them.

I wonder who he’s talking about. None of their main guys (Lindor, Alonso, Nimmo, Alvarez, McNeil, Marte) give off that vibe at all. And those guys have delivered, outside of Marte, whose skills seems to have eroded at 34. Their problem seems to be the implosion of their pitching staff and to a lesser extent a lack of positional player depth.

Murphy has been bit of a weird fit. They have d'Arnaud, so he's only going to catch 100 games. That would be fine if they were getting his bat in the lineup on most of his off days, but they prefer Ozuna in the DH slot. Trading for Murphy and then not maximizing his value was an odd choice. I'm guessing Snitker didn't deploy him how AA wanted him to, and AA hasn't wanted to rock the boat.

Anyone else not realize that William Contreras is having a 5-win season? Oakland hilariously flipped him and elite setup and Joel Payamps for Esteury Ruiz. The Sean Murphy trade would have actually been alright if they didn't trade the man piece to Milwaukee for a 4th OF.

Seemed to want to come back, but also seemed unsure if he'd be able to. I don't think he'll play anywhere else. You'd have to think they'd be interested in having him as a pinch-hitter and 2-3 times a week starter at 1B/DH. The Pujols role last year in St. Louis.

I think if I'm voting I'd go Strider. His ERA is lagging some of the others by a bit, but likely leads the NL in wins and Ks, and his xFIP and xERA are both the best of all candidates.
