We're like 12 months from Orioles fans starting to complain about ownership not trying to win. It's ridiculous that they're going into the playoffs this year with that rotation.
Still no reports of cash going to Houston in the Verlander deal? Wouldn’t make much sense for them to balk at his price in free agency last offseason then move two good prospects for the full contract a few months later.
I don't think Hicks is the kind of guy you want to extend at FA rates. Fine acquisition while he's pitching well, but he's a decent candidate to complete lose it next year.
The Rangers are pretty dumb. Acuna is probably worth the 22.5M New York is sending them. So they completely let NY off the hook for the Scherzer contract. Nice move for the Mets.
He’s a full 1.3 WAR behind his 2022 defensive and positional value. We’ve given up a lot playing him everyday in LF. Should be CF/C mix going forward. Hopefully they pivot.
Lost in this discussion about catchers is that Dalton Varsho should catch a meaningful number of games next year. Possibly a full backup workload. He Cody Bellingered his way to decent offensive numbers last year, but the luck evaporated and he's not actually a good hitter. He's a platoon defensive specialist. Save the starting OF spots for guys that can hit.
