  1. Things I'd like to do today: - Vogelsong for a prospect - Belt for a SP
  2. Seems to be a pretty good COF defender too. 2.1 fWAR in 205 PA is silly.
  3. Damn. Yeah I have him on ignore. I thought for a minute that AA had done a wonderful thing.
  4. For real?
  5. Trade deadline day! I hear silvergun is looking to make some bad decisions. Hit him up!
  6. Well the minor league performance is very relevant in projecting him going forward, and he wasn't very good in the minors. Give him 60-70 innings next year, and if his numbers are ungodly, consider moving him to the rotation in 2015. If he's just 'good' keep him in the pen. He had very real control problems in the minors that are going to show up eventually. That doesn't just go away when a pitcher hits the majors.
  7. I think you just have to make sure that the guy splitting time with him has other uses. Giving Sierra the job was stupid because he was a below-average bat with no evidence of a platoon skill. If you use a guy like Valencia, who's probably above-average vs. LHP, can play first , and can be half of a 3B platoon when Lawrie goes down, you're not wasting a roster spot.
  8. Yeah. His overall numbers were bad from 2010-2012 because the geniuses in management insisted on using him every day. As a DH/1B who can play only vs. RHP, he's probably a 125 wRC+ guy who will contribute 1-2 wins. You may not want to pay him $7.5 M to do that, but actually finding a suitable replacement, for less money, on a low-risk 1-year term, is not going to be easy.
  9. Holy f***, I had no idea he was still pitching.
  10. I'm not convinced Sanchez as closer would be a waste, because I'm not convinced he's capable of being an average starter. I'd probably lean towards sticking him in a high-leverage relief role for 70 innings next year and then re-evaluating if he has a 1-2 win season.
  11. Ryan Vogelsong available for a prospect.
  12. Buck HATES the shift. It's hilarious that this guy was the team's manager.
  13. Tabby and Buck talking about how the shift has cost defenses as many hits as it saves, and that we'l never see the numbers.
  14. $7.5 million for a 1-2 win player is fine value. If you buy him out, you're going to have a difficult time replacing his production for cheaper.
  15. Looks that way. They came close to keeping people interested into September, but couldn't quite make it.
  16. I really don;t think there's much chance Lind's option is declined.
  17. Well he's had a pretty unfortunate job: inheriting a team hyped as a WS contender, but that didn't have the payroll (2006-08) or front office competence (2012-13) to actually make noise. Guy stood no chance.
  18. Kawasaki 2nd and Edwin 6th. Yeah, f*** it, fire Gibby.
  19. Damn, I'm getting offered garbage for Belt, who's better than Hosmer at this point.
  20. So as things stand, everything on the spreadsheet should be accurate. Let someone know if this isn't the case.
  21. Well you made two very good trades today, so maybe you just needed someone to piss in your cornflakes.
