  1. Come on, wasn't that a PM and meant in jest?
  2. Well he gave you Lucroy, so there's that.
  3. Pitching, pitching, and more pitching.
  4. I'll take the trade off. I can piece a pitching staff together if I need to, but having an entire offense collectively s*** the bed is a death sentence.
  5. Yeah, that's about where I got with him. I wanted to be able to have discourse with him, because he does know a fair bit, but he's just so miserable a person that it isn't worth it.
  6. It's funny because KingKat is probably the most diplomatic poster on the forum, and Moogy can't even get along with him.
  7. One of many, many disappointments this year. Actually, behind Braun, Joyce has probably been my most valuable bat.
  8. I use Matt Joyce a lot. He has a hit and SB this week, and is the only bat on my bench with Jennings shut fown.
  9. He might not (though he is supposed to), but come the offseason he's a mid-tier closer that you can shop. I didn't want to cut him.
  10. I don't understand why people are so caught up on Lind's 'platoon-mate'. If the rest of the bench is strong, it isn't an issue. If you have a Gentry/Denorfia type, you plug them into LF vs. lefties and let Melky (if he's here) DH. Hardly a waste of a roster spot.
  11. Surprised someone below Dinger didn't snag Benoit. Free draft pick in the offseason.
  12. Damn it would be nice if Mark Trumbo could wake the f*** up this week. One of his 2-3 HR weeks would be huge.
  13. It would be nice if one of your guys could give up some runs. A rare McHugh implosion would be awesome.
  14. In the middle of a playoff run, Lloyd McClendon hits Endy Chavez 2nd. That organization is so difficult to like.
  15. Yeah. Use someone like Valencia who has some utility aside from DH platoon guy. A bench of: Valencia catcher outfielder middle infielder is just fine.
  16. All I've been saying is that he's worth his contract, and that if you buy him out, you're going to have a difficult time replacing his production for cheaper.
  17. You would be asking him to beat the market. I share your pessimism about his ability to do that.
  18. We both had the same information. I took a gamble that doctors could fix the issue given an entire offseason, and it would appear as though I guessed wrong.
  19. deGrom is really good. It's annoying that silvergun acquired him for three old broken guys.
  20. PA vs. LHP 2010 = 24% 2011 = 27% 2012 = 27% 2013 = 19% 2014 = 13% Lind was 'useless' for three years in a row because he wasn't used properly. He's Matt Joyce. A guy who's going to give you something in the vicinity of a 125-130 wRC+ vs. right-handed pitching, but who's limited to about 450 PA a season. That package is worth 1-2 wins over the course of a season, and on a low-risk 1-year term it's a pretty safe investment.
  21. There just isn't a reason to believe that there wouldn't be a market, aside from deliberately taking a contrarian stance. $7.5 M on a 1-year deal is fine value for a guy who will give you 1-1.5 wins. Just last offseaosn we saw Mike Morse net $6 million coming off a 79 wRC+ season. Lind has a skill set that doesn't get undervalued.
  22. If this team decides for some reason that they don't want to pay Lind $7.5 M, they will have no issues finding a taker. Buying him out would be ridiculous.
