  1. Wait, you guys are still emotionally invested in this season? I thought that ship had sailed like three weeks ago.
  2. He was offered an extension earlier this year?
  3. At least. Had Janssen hit the market last offseason he was probably looking at 3/21 or something. Now, 1/4? Rasmus at least 4/60. Now, 1/8? 2/16? Less?
  4. I actually feel sorry for Janssen. Dude is absolutely tanking his free agent value. He's going to get a fraction of what he would have earned had he not given this free agent year away in his last extension.
  5. I dropped Ike Davis, so he can have an equivalent contributor for free!
  6. North's decision to not carry a bench bat past the deadline is going to cost him. With Rizzo likely done he'll be replacement-level at Util.
  7. Even if someone takes the entire contract. ~2.5 WAR for $19 million isn't the worst thing, especially when the rotation would be Dickey, Hutchison, and three questions. It's far from a given that the FO could put that money to better use. The more I think about it, I'm very much in the "keep him" camp.
  8. I don't think Goins can even provide value at short. He'd need Cozart/Simmons defense.
  9. Do you think they have the guys in house to cover CF and LF at better than replacement-level? IMO you can maybe get away with Gose/some guy in one of those spots.
  10. Yeah. You trade Mark Buehrle for salary relief, and you're likely going to do one of two things: overpay for a replacement, or really miss him in the rotation.
  11. I lied. What I actually did was delete everything I had from yahoo and purged my trash because I forgot about the invite. So if you could send it again, I would be appreciative.
  12. Catsass, I never got the invite.
  13. The pitching staff has been amazingly healthy. One of the benefits of guys like Dickey and Buehrle.
  14. I don't know what you're talking about.
  15. Mark Trumbo has basically been fat Ichiro over 200 plate appearances since returning. Why can't I have nice things?
  16. Cespedes was maybe the third best hitter on their team. Too much is being made of the effect of his departure. Replacing him with Lester isn't the cause of their troubles, it just happens to coincide with a rough stretch.
  17. Morrow isn't a mid-rotation starter at this point though. Or at least he probably isn't.
  18. This is disappointing in that Rasmus would make a pretty awesome 4th OF for the right money, but there's probably zero chance he signs here now.
  19. I don't understand where these numbers come from, but over his career Buehrle's ERA is a third of a run less than his FIP, which is the better part of a win over a full season. Same deal with Dickey. They're both legitimately more valuable than their fWAR.
  20. This is about as mad as I've seen you, lol.
  21. An above-average qualified starter and above-average starter are two different things.
  22. AL starters 2014: 3.99 ERA Dickey = 3.94 ERA Account for his home park + high number of innings pitched + Dickey effect = above-average starter.
  23. And that's based on his FIP. His ERA is lower, and like Buehrle, it's a skill he has.
