  1. Morrow isn't a mid-rotation starter at this point though. Or at least he probably isn't.
  2. This is disappointing in that Rasmus would make a pretty awesome 4th OF for the right money, but there's probably zero chance he signs here now.
  3. I don't understand where these numbers come from, but over his career Buehrle's ERA is a third of a run less than his FIP, which is the better part of a win over a full season. Same deal with Dickey. They're both legitimately more valuable than their fWAR.
  4. This is about as mad as I've seen you, lol.
  5. An above-average qualified starter and above-average starter are two different things.
  6. AL starters 2014: 3.99 ERA Dickey = 3.94 ERA Account for his home park + high number of innings pitched + Dickey effect = above-average starter.
  7. And that's based on his FIP. His ERA is lower, and like Buehrle, it's a skill he has.
  8. Dickey is an above-average starter without accounting for the knuckleball effect. He's easily worth $12 million.
  9. I'm probably going to get ousted in round one with 3 homers, a 0.325 SLG, and godly pitching numbers.
  10. If Buehrle's FIP matched his ERA he'd have a higher fWAR and nobody would have a problem with his salary.
  11. Your dumn.
  12. I agree. It's not like the team is going to find a 2.5 win guy for less investment than 1/19.
  13. A prospect either makes it or they don't. 50/50.
  14. lmao at the offensive cats in me and silvergun's matchup.
  15. He's definitely serviceable. Giving up 8 runs in one start at Coors doesn't really change that.
  16. Rough go for a lot of your additions. Pujols, Waino, Lee, Moss, Kazmir have all struggled.
  17. You will. Santos and Francisco were good relievers until they weren't. If the Jays keep filling the pen with good relievers, a lot of them will suddenly stop being good relievers.
  18. Regardless of what happened in SD (and throwing 45-50 pitches over two days is a lot more common than throwing 45-50 in one game), the team seems to have used him a lot more recklessly than they have used relievers that they're more invested in. When he's thrown 46 and 47 pitches in a game and none of Cecil, McGowan, Delabar, Janssen, or Santos have thrown more than 31, it looks bad. Especially when his arm blows out and he gets released.
  19. Right, but he did throw 47 pitches in 1.1 innings after being used the previous day on April 25th and 46 pitches in 1.1 innings on May 14th. It seems that the organizational philosophy to remove pitchers after throwing a lot of pitches in a short time didn't apply to Wagner. I'm not saying that he wouldn't have been hurt otherwise, but to be used like a rented mule and then released when your arm explodes must not feel very good.
  20. So how many times did Wagner come in and throw 50+ pitches in relief? Guy must be livid with the org.
  21. ITT: people making the same mistakes that were made with Goins, Sierra, Thames etc... Now Sanchez obviously has more raw talent than those guys, but the mocking tone people are taking towards the very real concern about his poor minor league track record is probably going to look foolish eventually. You don't disregard hundreds of innings of data because he's been great in 20 relief innings in the majors.
  22. If you have the opportunity to trade for the right-handed half of a platoon, you do it every time and ask questions later.
  23. Yeah. Came within less than half a point of losing my spot to Nick after taking a 25+ point lead on Thursday, but managed to hang on.
  24. Guys, millions of people are downloading these pictures. There's no way anyone is being prosecuted for that.
