  1. You never know with players, but I would think he would waive it if the Jays are in a legit playoff push at the deadline. He'd be looking at 2 months + playoffs before becoming a free agent, so probably 30ish games (hopefully more). The value he could add to a new contract performing well in a playoff environment should trump any concerns about 30+ games on the turf.
  2. We were basically at our spending limit when we got Dickey. No way could we have afforded Lee instead of him.
  3. Coming into today, Blanco actually led with JPA second. 3 of JPA's 8 though came in the first game of the season when he caught Dickey. More surprising might be that JPA had only one more PB than Jose Molina
  4. That should put the O's fans from the other day in a frenzy!
  5. I keep seeing people talk about how much harder the turf is on the body, yet soccer is using that on all fields now and many football teams are as well partly because it's supposed to reduce injury. I wonder which is correct?
  6. Ricciardi basically came in with a plan based on how the A's were operating at the time, executed it, and found out that what worked in the AL West didn't work in the AL East. AA had/has a plan, has so far (by all appearances) executed it, and it's yet to be determined whether it will work or not. The one big difference that I see is that AA seems to be more flexible with the plan (evidenced by the pen this year).
  7. Thames was just designated for assignment. To say we won THAT trade by a mile is the understatement of the year.
  8. Nice try. Only for walk off, not game winning.
  9. He doesn't seem to be making many mistakes so far today. Hopefully his real self appears soon though.
  10. In fairness to Gibby, Buehrle is the only guy who's really been healthy, and he's looked pretty fatigued around 100 pitches a few times. I suspect if JJ stays healthy now and Dickey's back gets better those two could be allowed to go longer in the second half.
  11. Gibbons even won an argument with the ump. Everything we're doing right now is coming up Jays!
  12. We really need to improve in our sliding technique
  13. Hammel has a good breaking ball tonight. Gonna have to lay off that with two strikes.
  14. Found this article on ESPN.com regarding the trend towards higher strikeout rates in baseball. Interesting (and slightly disturbing imo) read. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/9404316/mlb-players-striking-record-pace
  15. Ideally Davis never comes to the plate with anyone on base. If we have several runs lead, pitch to him. Otherwise, intentionally walk him. If he goes 0-0 for the series with 12 walks, so be it.
  16. Lind has been averaging about 4.5 per game since he's been in the lineup regularly. He also currently has 213 PA coming into today (it's 3.1 PA, NOT AB).
  17. Seems that the Japanese Nippon League was frustrated at the lack of home runs, so they decided to juice ... the balls. Finally they had to admit it. http://espn.go.com/new-york/story/_/id/9404524/refreshing-honesty-nippon-baseball-league
