  1. Here's my current offseason plan: Sign McCann, Halladay, Garza, and re-sign Davis. Trade or otherwise get rid of JPA, Morrow, Lind, Happ, Rogers, Lincoln, Izzy. Trade for Dozier or Wong if possible, otherwise perhaps Ackley or Infante. C: McCann (14M) 1B: Edwin (9M) 2B: Dozier / Wong (500k), or Ackley (1.7M) 3B: Lawrie (500k) SS: Reyes (16M) LF: Rasmus (7M) CF: Gose (500k) RF: Bautista (14M) DH: Melky (8M) Bench: Thole, Kawasaki, Davis, DeRosa (combined 5.75M) SP: Halladay (10M) (if he comes back healthy, and early signs are encouraging) SP: Dickey (12M) SP: Buehrle (18M) SP: Garza (12M) SP: Fill from within (Romero, Drabek, Hutch, Jenkins, Stroman, Nolin, etc) RP: Janssen (4M) RP: Delabar (500k) RP: Cecil (2M) RP: McGowan (1.5M) RP: Santos (3.75M) RP: Loup (500k) RP: Wagner (500k) Other: Romero: 7.5M Total of about 138M (139M if Ackley) Minor league starting depth in Stroman, Drabek, Hutch, Jenkins, Romero, Nolin, Redmond, etc Minor league position depth in Pillar, Goins, Jiminez, Sierra, etc The signing of Halladay would boost ticket sales again big time, and McCann and Garza are bigger names that would get people excited as well (not to mention how absolutely perfect a fit McCann is).
  2. Wow, this thread exploded in a hurry... The one thing I like about Goins is that he's tended to improve every year (except AAA this year obviously). I don't think he'll ever be a star, but from the limited games we've seen him in I could easily see him basically clone Izzy's career offensively while playing better defense. I have no idea if that will turn out true or not, but this remaining month is the perfect time to get an extended look.
  3. I take it you mean the black hole in the middle of NGC 4889 rather than the energetic galaxy?
  4. Redmond hitting 93mph early on, which is kind of interesting.
  5. 6. King Felix got destroyed today!
  7. They likely have significant stadium debt they're paying down (although I didn't check), along with all the other front office salaries and stuff. Still, even with all that I wouldn't be surprised to see them clear 50 - 75M. There really does need to be a firmer salary floor.
  8. It'll be interesting to see what the voters do if Miggy doesn't get the triple crown this year, but has superior numbers to last year. With Trout putting up similar numbers to last year, will Miggy still win it?
  9. Sierra almost looked like he lobbed that ball, and it was a bullet.
  10. I think Dickey is now 6th in innings pitched, and could be 3rd or 4th after tonight. He IS going reasonably deep.
  11. Well, Kawasaki and Goins at least appear to be capable of putting up positive WAR just on their defense alone, which is a big improvement over what we've seen with Izzy and Boni most of the year.
  12. I don't mind if we address pitching and catcher. Between him, Kawasaki, and Izzy someone is bound to take it and run (or at least not suck)
  13. Hmmm, so THAT's what it's like to actually have someone who can turn the dp. I kind of doubt Goins will keep the bat going, but I love him in the field.
  14. Doesn't help our tanking, but that was an absolutely outstanding at bat by Kawasaki
  15. Buehrle may very well finish the season with a mid to upper 3's era and xfip.
  16. You should include in your reminder posts who has submitted them and who you're missing them from.
  17. Well, maybe equal to what he did in the first half of his career.
  18. EE is one of only 4 qualified players this year with more walks than strikouts. The others are Scutaro, Aoki, and Callaspo, none of which are power guys.
  19. Put his head on Gose's body and we'd probably have Rickey Henderson with a little better d.
  20. Loving Bautista taking a page out of Pedro's book on having fun with fans.
  21. I seriously doubt anyone did. Most people probably picked Lind
  22. If things break our way, we could be in line for the 5th pick after tonight.
