  1. Just bumping this for anyone interested in it. Deadline is tonight I believe.
  2. Bailey put up 2.5 and 3.7 fWAR the last 2 years. It's unclear which will be better next year, but we need the upgrade at pitching a hell of a lot more than we need Rasmus imo.
  3. No offense, but I'm not sure even a video game would accept that one. We'd have to include a HELL of a lot more.

You seem to have at least 4 ...
  5. Was curious with the spammers today what kind of traffic we're generating now. Clearwebstats estimates almost 3000 unique daily visitors. Are we really this high?
  6. Not sure if anyone else posted it, but some talk the Reds could move Hanigan. Would be a very interesting target. edited: Oops, missed a page. Definitely an interesting target.
  7. Neither do I. Heck, after 2005 lots of people labelled Halladay as injury prone (2004 was due to working out too intensely and 2005 was due to that Kevin Mench line drive off the leg). I'm much more interested in what the injury is as opposed to how many someone has had, especially for pitchers.
  8. He'd probably have to guarantee at least one of the options, but I would love this. Not sure I'd go a lot higher though.
  9. I don't think I'd be happy with Santana at 5/60, let alone 5/100.
  10. It would be interesting to go through the list of all (somewhat premium) Boras clients and see if any of them have actually provided surplus value on a FA contract.
  11. Yeah, that was incredibly stupid.
  12. Doubt it. It'll probably take about the same amount of time as a manager going nuts after a bad call currently does.
  13. Melky looked like he was moving pretty good in the spring. I'm more than willing to chalk it up to the tumor.
  14. For anyone interested, MLBTR finally put up their free agent prediction contest. Picks are due by the 10th. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/11/mlbtrs-free-agent-prediction-contest.html
  15. I could see a great hitting coach who's had a set group of guys for a few years adding that kind of value, but I wouldn't expect someone to suddenly step in and get those kind of results first year. Basically impossible to quantify regardless.
  16. Whether we agree with it or not, the defensive metrics the last 2 years appear to be less cruel to him than we are, and he has big power. Some team out there would no doubt love to get and try to "fix" him at the plate. Worse case for us, we stash him in AAA and see if that clears his head, since he should still have options left.
  17. I really don't think he'll be non tendered.
  18. Out of curiosity, why don't you like the idea of Jimenez? He's posted an xFIP of 3.6-3.7 in 4 of the last 5 years (with similar SIERRA), and a WAR exceeding 3 in 5 of the last 6 years. Combine that with the fact that he's not viewed by many as one of the more sexy targets plus has a QO hovering over him to drive down the price, and we could possibly have him at a pretty nice bargain.
  19. Really no reason for them to QO him. He's stated pretty clearly that the only 2 choices are that he'll either retire or pitch for the Pirates.

    Definitely not boring game tonight.

Yeah. Basically charged down the ice, ripped Holtby's mask off (who repeatedly said he didn't want to fight), told Holtby to either fight or get pounded regardless, then started wailing on the back of Holtby's head as he tried to protect himself. Considering the problems with concussions and stuff today, and the danger of hitting someone there, he should get a big suspension for it.

Emery should get a massive suspension for that.
  23. Yeah, some of those could be interesting, although I doubt any are all that cheap. Baker made 1.75M last year and will likely get a decent raise after the season he had (which I doubt he comes close to repeating). He's probably basically DeRosa offensively and defensively but teams would be buying high. Youkilis will probably get 4 or 5M and a starting job (not that he necessarily deserves it). He would be an ideal platoon mate for Lind though. Reynolds will probably get 5-6M or more and a starting spot. Berkman will probably be 5+ million. Morse I'm not sure about. He's a perfect buy-low candidate if some team doesn't do something stupid with him, but even then he's probably 2.5-3 million.
  24. Ellis will cost a hell of a lot more too, and wouldn't likely be paid to be a bench player. Not comparing the same thing there. I have to assume the Jays want someone on the bench with a little bit of positional flexibility and thump. Any lower pay player with those abilities will likely come with some kind of downside. I would have preferred we just keep Kawasaki and forget about the power, but this isn't the kind of thing to rant over imo. Heck, DeRosa may still retire anyhow.
  25. It was the first game of the season. Both teams looked exactly like they were playing the first game. I can't believe how many people around here can possibly complain so much even when the teams win.
