It's funny, a pitcher has the smallest ache in their arm and they're on the DL for 2 months. Our position players can barely walk and they're allowed to try and play through it...
You should really have an antivirus. There are several free versions that are supposed to be quite good, or you can usually get something like Norton pretty cheap on Boxing Day (~$20), depending on your operating system. If you're using Windows you should probably also install something like Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org). I think the free version allows you to manually scan your computer for issues, while the paid version has real time protection. It's also not a bad idea to scan with Microsoft Security Essentials on occasion either.
I don't know how safe the streaming sites are (I don't use them myself). Any time a site asks you to install something there's definitely a risk, especially if the site isn't legal.
I'm talking about a player hitting the ball out with a runner on base, then accidentally passing the runner on the base paths (this isn't as impossible as it sounds, especially a high fly that just squeaks over the wall and the runner tagging up).
Technically a home run is only counted once the batter rounds the bases and steps on home plate (ie, the play is over) which makes any argument like that redundant. It IS however possible for a player to hit a ball fair, on the fly, into the stands and not receive a home run for it (and no it has nothing to do with botched calls or replays).
(Sorry, I dislike 100% type statements)
Is there some kind of NA slot or something where we can stick the prospects, or is it kept track of on a spreadsheet as to who has what guy? How does that work?
I kind of like the categories we have, but minus shorthanded points and shutouts.
W, S, SV%, GAA
G, A, +/-, SOG, H, BLK, PPP, FOW
would probably be my preference. Only 6 offensive categories seem a little light to me, and makes goalies too valuable imo.
Bounce back means return to the guy who put up 12.4 WAR over the previous 7 years. He's most certainly not a negative WAR player, or at least shouldn't be.
It's funny. JP has a personal catching coach for 2 weeks and he starts receiving and throwing better. Who would have thought a coaching might actually help?
If Izzy didn't play here this year, he's exactly the kind of low cost bounce back option people would be talking about picking up to play 2nd next year.
If player A has a .250 average and walks 75 times, and player B has a .290 average and walks 20 times, which do you think is more valuable to the team? The problem is, simple stats like batting average don't tell you stuff like that (and it gets even worse with power vs no power). It's not about the average, it's about the total offensive contribution. Now I actually think Goins may eventually be league average offensively, but you can't just take one stat to determine how he's doing.
The problem is, you're cherry picking a single stat that doesn't properly represent the value of his offense to the team (and that's to say nothing about luck or small sample size).
It'll be interesting to see what the Yankees do, whether they stick to their previous stance and get under 189M or not. If they do, they may not be big players in the free agent sweeps.
