  1. Lawrie came close to making that play. Would have been an incredible one.
  2. We aren't off to a good start in that regard. At least the Mets and Brewers are playing each other, so one of the two of them have to win.
  3. Longoria with the picture perfect display of how NOT to play 3rd base. (yes, I know he's one of the best in the business)
  4. That 93mph breaking ball to Gose was just unfair. No chance
  5. This ended up being rather unfortunately prophetic.
  6. Based on age, I think he should take a bit of a step forward from 2012 (as I said, I think this year he was mostly hurt early on with being rushed through his rehab period), and his second half numbers are a bit of a step forward from 2012 also. Somewhere in the 95 to 100 wRC+ seems right for a floor, and probably 115 or so as the ceiling.
  7. I would expect Lawrie's 2012 to be the floor. Hopefully he can take a step forward from that though. I think this year he was really hurt by being rushed back from injury with almost no rehab period.
  8. Anyone else just hear the announcers in the Seattle game saying that KC got Boni because he was caught in a numbers game in Toronto that (paraphrasing) caused him to not get enough playing time and rot on the bench? Yeah, it was a numbers game all right, but it was his own numbers.
  9. Romero clearly on board with getting us a better draft pick.
  10. Obviously I have no idea what was said or who started the chirping, but if a player ever deserved one in the ribs for something Gomez would be near the top of the list for that nonsense.
  11. I'm not saying we should do it (I don't want us to), just that it would be interesting to see the results.
  12. They vary so much year to year in the individual stat categories I'm not sure to what degree they can be trusted. I mean, look at Fenway last year compared to this year.
  13. Lind was grabbing his back a little after stopping at 3rd. It's clearly barking a bit.
  14. Comerica is a hitter's park just like the AL East parks. Miggy would probably get very little advantage. Angel stadium definitely isn't though.
  15. Hearing that the Yankees can be eliminated from playoff contention tonight makes me so happy I don't even care about that home run to tie the game!
  16. You have to wonder what would happen if a team took two groups of 5 relievers, and had them each pitch 2 innings every other game.
  17. Make it a true balanced schedule, but play teams outside your division early in the season and division games late to increase the rivalry and intensity going into the playoffs. It would also mean more travel early when players are fresher, and less travel late when they tire through August.
  18. Trying to think of a DH with less power than Noodle ...
  19. The problem is that MVP really isn't properly defined (which is probably intentional). You may believe the most valuable player should be in relation to their team, while others may believe it's the person who makes the biggest impact with the fans (such as Miggy's triple crown chase) or the person who has the best statistical season (Trout with WAR last year). The thing is, everyone is right.
  20. A lot will probably depend on this off-season. If they brought someone like Halladay back or something (perhaps less likely since he left his last game with issues), it would likely recover some of the excitement from the casual fans that we saw this year early on.
  21. Gose is so smooth out there. He just kind of glides.
  22. One thing we know about Doc is that if he's done, it won't be due to lack of effort to rehab and get back. With his work effort, I don't think you can ever rule him out.
  23. Goody ... 1 pitch, 2 commercial breaks. I'd really like to see a rule that pitchers have to face at least 3 batters (or the end of the inning) before they can be lifted.
