  1. That would be an epic troll job
  2. Well the d-backs did say the ptbnl was the key for them to pull the trigger so I doubt it's a scrub, but all the same...
  3. I love that AA is starting to break his cone of silence a little bit. I'd love for us to get Anderson if the price is cheap, but he doesn't fit with what AA has said all along to be looking for.
  4. If you consider the weighted ball programs, it might help strengthen the shoulder and prevent injury for all we know.
  5. Interesting. BB seems to be on the reliever kick right now.
  6. Don't get me wrong, I think Fister is underrated by quite a bit, and if you factor in the difference in cost to acquire each of them I would probably choose Fister. There is no way I would even think about doing so all things being equal though.
  7. That could free up someone like Franklin maybe!
  8. I don't agree with this at all. Imo if your new stat is suggesting this, you need to take another look at the stat.
  9. Florida tax rate probably doesn't hurt either.
  10. I agree. Really, it's the D-Backs with the WTF moment unless that PTBNL is something good. The deal has some risk for Tampa too, in that a lot of people think Hannigan is nothing more than a backup (although I think he could break out personally). If you stretch the Bell contract out over the 3 years too and only attribute to him what he's actually worth, they're essentially paying Hannigan 4M to 5M a year for 3 to 4 years.
  11. Price's SwStk% is pretty close to what Halladay's was before he went to the Phillies.
  12. His walk rate also dropped dramatically though. The two are probably related. As for his velocity, it was still higher last year than in 2009. I don't think this is something to be concerned about, and combined with the increase in command is probably intentional.
  13. I would be all for this.
  14. Yeah, he's above average defensively at 2nd.
  15. Probably not, but he could be the odd man out if the M's sign a big bat or two which it seems a given that the will. I'd imagine they'd take Gose + something, and move Saunders to left.
  16. I'm sure we could pry Ackley away from the M's if they end up signing a big bat outfielder or two this winter.
  17. The good thing about Anderson is that the injury last year was to the foot rather than the arm. If he's back to 100%, I'd absolutely love us to get him. #2 upside for sure. We still need to add an additional 200 inning arm though, because the chances of him making 30+ starts is about the same as D-Mac doing it. ... and lol at Steamer effectively projecting him to be a swing man.
  18. Maybe AA can convince BB to accept RR as part of the return
  19. This sounds like an interesting area to research further.
  20. Well they'd do worse no question, but my point isn't whether or not framing exists (it clearly does), but rather whether it is appropriate to try to exclude it's effects from the pitcher or whether the pitcher has a non-trivial amount of control over it as well.
  21. Yeah, I suspect there's a lot of pitchers that do (I remember Hentgen absolutely raping hitters 6 inches or more off the plate). I'd also love to see the difference in borderline strikes between stars and rookies. It just seems like you are making a very big assumption unless there is very strong evidence to support it.
  22. I believe so, and I assume the max bid would be high enough that only the elite players would ever reach it.
  23. One hell of a change to the proposed posting system! http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/12/latest-on-the-posting-system-negotiations.html It would include a maximum bid, and priority if multiple teams reach the max is inverse of record!
