  1. Players who make absolutely no attempt to get out of the way on a ball like that shouldn't be awarded the base.
  2. He was absolutely right too, especially in the playoffs.
  3. Izzy pretty much was that kind of player coming into the year. JPA is just bad.
  4. It's an interesting problem for Farrell to have. How much do you weaken the defense to boost the offense? If we had made the WS this year, would we be seeing EE at 3rd and Lawrie at 2nd in this situation?
  5. I don't think that would net Profar even if Rasmus had 3 years remaining on his contract, let alone one. Chucking in an extra arm would probably require Sanchez + one of our better relievers at minimum.
  6. I'm guessing he means JFaS and didn't know what it stands for.
  7. For me personally, not really. I love watching the knuckleball (used to love watching Candiotti and Wakefield too). Aside from that, Dickey will almost certainly outperform his contract, so the only thing even close to being negative imo is losing Syndergaard (don't really mind losing d'Arnaud). I also think we'll see a much better Dickey next year. He only had his full velocity for a few starts at the end of the season this year.
  8. I think any time is too soon for something like that.
  9. There, that seems a lot more familiar with what we saw with Farrell.
  10. For anyone interested, Rogers released the 3rd quarter financials today http://www.rogers.com/cms/pdf/en/IR/QuarterlyReport/2013-Q3_Results-Release.pdf Unfortunately they don't break down the Jays specifically, but the media division showed 10% higher profit over the last 3 months (would have been even higher without them buying The Score).
  11. Looks like more complaints about Boston pitchers and foreign substances: http://espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs/2013/story/_/id/9874484/2013-world-series-boston-red-sox-manager-john-farrell-says-jon-lester-doctoring-ball
  12. No kidding. I'd gladly take Hudson @ 9 million too.
  13. It likely doesn't matter anyway, since nothing true ever seems to leak since AA took over. He's probably inquired about every single catcher in the league.
  14. Then they should sign Halladay at a hell of a lot less cost, rather than give up THAT much for 1 year of Scherzer and a horrifically bad contract in Fielder.
  15. Why the hell would the Jays do that?
  16. No kidding. I definitely didn't want him at 17.5 per.
  17. Alternatively when he starts you could move Bautista to 3rd and go with a 5 man infield with Gose and Rasmus in the outfield. Would be an interesting experiment, especially if Porcello keeps the high gb rate with 7+ k's.
  18. I don't get it either, and reports from this year seemed to indicate that he's made good mental improvements. His walk rate during rehab this year was fantastic.
  19. Those are some very interesting points. I wonder if they could also be interested in Izzy returning, especially if they were considering trading Kendrick (whether to us or elsewhere). Perhaps a Romero and Blanton swap as well could be interesting for both sides. The best part would be if JPA went the other way. It would be amusing to see which of the wills would win between JPA and Scioscia.
  20. It's back a few posts
  21. If we're going to trade with Detroit for a pitcher, I'd rather nab Smyly over Porcello
  22. Maybe this will spur Detroit on to trade for a few of our relievers ...
  23. Avila was about 2 inches away from a broken hand on that foul tip.
  24. Fielder looks terrible at the plate (looks a little heavier to me too)
