  1. You're really mixing two different things. You're saying that he hasn't really gotten it done, because if you remove luck, etc he's been slightly below average. Regardless of how he's done it (it can be pure luck), the actual results (run prevention) have been above average, which is "getting it done". That doesn't mean we can expect him to continue to do so going forward (advanced stats suggest not, at least until he curbs the walk rate). It also doesn't mean that he's outpitched his peers thus far in a neutral context. As for future health, I don't believe the sinker should cause him any additional issues, nor the curve. It seems health issues tend to come more from the cutter / slider.
  2. If that's the case, then Sanchez HAS gotten it done. 6 innings per start, and a 3.55 era. That doesn't mean the ERA is sustainable going forward of course.
  3. The graph North posted seems to suggest otherwise, although it wasn't clear if the graph looked at the babip off all pitches, or just off fastballs.
  4. All 0 for 100's are equal.
  5. Speaking of Boyd, his line from tonight: 7 innings, 6 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk, 8 k's, 1 home run. Nice to see he isn't moping around.
  6. You should look into the Julia language as well as R. (http://julialang.org/) I haven't had time to develop my stuff yet (my other project is almost finished though I think, so I should be able to soon). I'm planning on trying out Julia when I do my pitchfx database and analysis programs.
  7. I believe both forms are actually correct.
  8. It's the 8th with a no hitter going. Unless we break it up, they won't be pulling him.
  9. That might be the worst drive of the game I've ever seen.
  10. Is Bautista even the strongest arm of the two right now? He's still not throwing anywhere close to 100%.
  11. Carrera's defense is actually kind of interesting. His UZR/150: LF: -23.4, RF: 27.5, CF: -34.2 Maybe we should play him in RF and Bautista in LF until Pompey or Saunders comes back.
  12. He's in the wrong profession. Catch and release is for avid fisherman. Seriously, I think I actually prefer Colabello out there.
  13. Hutch last year at home: 3.60 xFIP, road: 3.95 xFIP Hutch this year at home: 3.04 xFIP, road: 4.78 xFIP
  14. Abomination, in his only selection of the draft, selects goalie MacKenzie Blackwood. Zeros is otc
  15. Probably wise I actually think he's being pretty smart at the way he's trying to market himself. Doesn't mean he isn't a fun target to make fun of though.
  16. Nice to hear Valencia talk about loving the clubhouse chemistry.
  17. I hope after tomorrow they'll stop showing those Tim and Sid commercials.
  18. It felt to me like Boyd was missing his spots a lot today (not unusual for a guy making his first start), and he doesn't have the raw stuff to do that a lot. The fact he's been able to keep the walks down while inducing a lot of whiffs suggests to me that the command is normally there in addition to the control. He actually kind of reminds me of Hutch (from the left side) when he first came up.
  19. I think they're just worried that when he's ready, sending Sanchez down to build his pitch count back up probably makes him unavailable until the latter part of July. If they use him out of the pen, he might be available in a few days, and could be a huge boost there.
  20. To Abomination: Mason McDonald + Waiver 63 To Havok: Waiver 46
  21. I wouldn't have minded trading something small for McDonald
  22. Cecil's only issues right now is command, and by the looks of it, a little lack of confidence. He can't throw his fastball for strikes consistently, so his wicked breaking stuff can't be used properly. He'll get it sorted out. I'd like to see Cecil removed from the closer's role until he does though, and go by committee until then.
  23. Rasmussen has given up 5 ER in his last 2.2 innings, he should fit in just fine I sort of get calling him up. In spite of his last two appearances, he's been pitching quite well. Would like to see a few less walks though. Redmond I just don't get. He doesn't appear to be pitching at all well right now, and he wasn't on the 40 man (I don't think). Why would they not call up Jenkins there? Only thing I can think of is that they'll outright Redmond off the 40 man in a few days when they activate Travis, rather than send Kawasaki down.
