  1. I wouldn't mind grabbing Beachy as along man in the pen. He could move to the rotation next year if needed, but he's probably not quite ready yet.
  2. I'd say the Brewers got bent over in that trade... badly. Some of the guys coming back might have some potential, but if you're dealing away good guys with control and good contracts, you should really expect more.
  3. I don't really mind Colabello on the bench, but Smoak should definitely be playing 1st.
  4. I'm definitely not a fan of this trade unless we can resign Price. However, I'm sure gonna enjoy watching him pitch for the next 2 (hopefully +) months. I think for what we gave up, we should have been able to get Cespedes as well or something.
  5. Meh, just promote Pompey after the deadline.
  6. He was excited to catch him at the start of the year. Maybe not so much now. He's doing a pretty good job catching Dickey though.
  7. R.A. Dickey. Oh, wait...
  8. Looks like a Klingon delicacy.
  9. The triumph of hope over experience? Seriously though, that's pretty stupid.
  10. That's a really, REALLY nice return on a few months of Zobrist.
  11. There's so many various kinds of turf, it's hard to say. Many indoor AND outdoor soccer and football stadiums seem to be using artificial turf now, so it can't be that bad. It's not like this is the carpet we used to have in Skydome.
  12. Highly doubt it. The original story seems to indicate multiple guys. As long as we don't give up any of our elite prospects, I'm good with it though.
  13. The big difference for me is that Tulo's game is based more on power, and Reyes more on speed. I have to think the power is likely to age better. Even if Tulo has to be moved off SS he still has the bat to play OF or corner IF at an elite level.
  14. I don't see why Edwin would waive his no trade rights to go there though.
  15. Doesn't mean he can't be traded, just that he can control where he goes. As I said before, him to the Dodgers for Seager+, then either Shields or Hamels coming here would make some sense. I have to think AA is trying to free up cash for high end controllable pitching. Still, thinking about Tulo in this lineup ...
  16. Ah, Tulo gets 2M bonus for being traded, so his salary is on par with Reyes. I wonder if Tulo had asked for a trade?
  17. Even if it does, I can't imagine him turning it down.
  18. We actually save 2M / year for the next few years on Tulo over Reyes! I'm thinking there's something bigger at play here though. Maybe Tulo to the Dodgers for Seager+, then pick up Shields contract?
  19. A-Rod with another home run. I get the possibility a great hitter can come back and do well even at his age, but THIS well? You have to wonder if he's found some new designer help.
  20. He was also basically going home signing with the Padres, which may have been worth a lot more to him than just the money.
  21. This is the time of the year when "insiders" make up tons of s*** and hope some manages to stick and make them look like they actually have legit connections. I wouldn't put any stock into the general rumors.
  22. Interesting. Hard to consider Starling as a headline player at this point, but he has unbelievable upside if someone can sort him out at the plate.
