  1. Boy, they really sock it to you with that 546% exchange rate! In all seriousness though, that kinda sucks. Hopefully you guys can get it resolved.
  2. Hmmm, yeah, you're right. Rogers holds some of the regional ones too, but in separate deals. Apparently for games where they hold both, they can show them nationally as well. They still are showing 200+ national games this year, and they have NHL Center Ice revenue, and Gamecenter Live as well (not to mention they pawned off the french language rights for a nice sum).
  3. You're forgetting regional games. Sportsnet is showing 500+ games this year, 200+ of which are national. The deal also includes NHL Center Ice rights for Canadians.
  4. The NHL deal is to cover ALL NHL games, not just the Leafs. They show a hell of a lot more than 3 games a week.
  5. I think the bigger issue with the defense (at least at a position like CF), is that in general, speed declines much faster, and at a younger age. If I remember right, there's a big drop off around 23 to 24, and another in the 27 to 29 range. This is likely due to the addition of muscle, which is typical for players in these age ranges. There ARE players who see very little decline in their legs, but not many. My fear with someone like Heyward, would be that a reasonable loss in his speed probably turns him into a 2.5 to 3 WAR player. Still plenty valuable, but not the 5+ WAR guy he is right now. Trout is a perfect example of the speed decrease (although his bat is so damned good, it more than makes up for it).
  6. I would take Price over any of the others easily, especially since Price seems to fit in really well in the clubhouse, and seems to have the intelligence to remain effective as his stuff declines. I think Samardzija could be interesting secondary addition as well. He's having a rough year, and could come at a nice discount. His stuff still seems to be good, and in fact the only real changes seem to be an increase in movement, and throwing more cutters instead of 2-seamers (maybe the similarity between the cutter and the slider is why his slider has suddenly got very hittable?)
  7. Rogers wealth has nothing to do with things. Any business that doesn't care about losing money, isn't going to be stable in the long term. Rich people who own teams personally generally don't like losing money either. Most didn't get rich by taking a lot of losses. The exceptions are the odd owner who doesn't have long left, and cares more about winning than anything else (or is using it to leverage something else, see Detroit). Those aren't plentiful, don't offer long term security, and payroll only gets inflated for a very short time. We are definitely a large market team. I'm not sure about top 5, but top 10 is very fair. Revenue from TV ratings in Canada can't be compared directly to that in the States, especially for our national broadcasts as opposed to concentrated local ones. Ad revenue in Canada is much less than what it is for the same ratings in large markets in the US.
  8. Having the Jays with Rogers is an ideal scenario for us. It provides perfect stability, and the ownership has motivation to win because of the synergy with their other products. We have (I believe) a top 10 payroll.
  9. It seems the big attendance jump we've seen since the trade deadline has been equaled with huge tv numbers as well. Last month, the Jays had 23 broadcasts that exceeded 1 million viewers, with an August average of 1.29 million. That's up 112% over last year. Blue Jays Central in August was up 139%, to 422,000 viewers per day. Jays in 30 was up 213%, to 137,000 viewers per day. On the season, we're at 793,000 viewers per day, which is up 36%.
  10. Peak in real life, or peak in fantasy where we don't take defense into account?
  11. Remember how we said the new mods should be willing to periodically ban King, just for the hell of it? This is what happens when you don't do that. edited: Oh crap, it was GD. Oh well, ban King anyway
  12. If you're gonna rename them, how about a non Chinese food theme?
  13. Loup has a 2.78 xFIP and a 2.37 SIERRA. He's been hurt mostly by an unsustainable 23% HR/FB ratio (a little babip bad luck too, which probably amplifies the damage). His strikeout rate, walk rate, etc are all fantastic. Now maybe he's grooving an unusual number of pitches to result in the home runs, I don't know. Overall though, he's been one of our best pitchers in terms of analytics.
  14. No kidding. He's been dominating down there lately too.
  15. I need Lazar, Grigorenko, and Anton Forsberg added (Lazar and Forsberg don't appear to be in the database though), and Gardiner removed.
  16. I think it's 5 starts or 10 games for batters, 3 starts or 5 relief for pitchers.
  17. Set it as a keeper league, and we should be able to indicate our keeper players in Yahoo.
  18. I'd say make the call AND set the date. It's not like it's a change that's going to break the league, or be unfair to anyone.
  19. If he doesn't make his own cuts, it's probably safe to assume he'd be okay with it being postponed a week.
  20. To Abomination: Grigorenko To GD-Dinger: Waiver 63. Instructions in trade thread on who to bold, remove bold from.
  21. Cody Eakin is available if someone has something interesting in mind.
  22. I would suggest not including the names in the graphs that are cluttered, just the data points. Only include the names for the Jays players (make the Jays data points a different color too). That will make the graphs much easier to see, and make the information you're trying to convey stick out. In your first graph, there's no need to start at 0. Start the graph at 3 xFIP.

  24. If not, it's pretty obvious by the batter not shaking out his hand.
  25. One or two platoon guys really isn't a big deal assuming it's a left handed batter. Choo has a 134 wRC+ on the season vs righties.
