  1. His SIERA is 2.47 as a reliever. His SwStr is 6.5% (yes, that includes this year)
  2. It is, but it's about 40 innings for Sanchez now. It's certainly worth watching, just not relying on projection wise.
  3. Sanchez has some fascinating numbers as a reliever. Some of it is almost certainly luck, but over the last two years among pitchers with at least 20 relief innings, he's first in average against, whip, second in ERA, and has the lowest percentage of hard hit balls against him.
  4. He was starting to show legit stuff in the rotation before he went down (his last 4 games he had xFIP of 3.73, 3.22, 4.34, and 3.58). His only real issue has been the walks. If he can get those under control, he could be very good, very quickly. It's nice to see that he could fall back on being a very high end reliever if he fails in the rotation though.
  5. Looks like the NHL has partnered with MLBAM to provide stats, streaming video, and web services for hockey. It'll be interesting to see what data we'll get access to.
  6. There's no reason NOT to claim Shields, unless management has absolutely refused to give AA any more payroll (and with the excitement Price has generated, I have to think they'd give in). If we don't have the payroll space after this year, then we should be able to trade him somewhere. It would be a fantastic 1-2 punch between Shields and Price in the playoffs. On the down side, Shields hasn't pitched very well in Fenway or Yankee stadium in his career, and he hasn't been fantastic in RC either.
  7. I have to think Seattle would have traded Iwakuma if they thought he wouldn't resign with them. I'd love to see him here though.
  8. Yeah that's basically as close as you can get to saying you hit them on purpose, without directly saying it.
  9. Now THIS is good baseball! And good on Sanchez.
  10. I'm usually very much against the idea of retaliation or intentionally hitting people, but this might be a case where it's needed.
  11. Starting Price tomorrow means he faces the Yankees in both of our upcoming series.
  12. Terrible move to DFA Valencia. He's exactly the kind of bench player good teams have.
  13. I wouldn't mind grabbing Beachy as along man in the pen. He could move to the rotation next year if needed, but he's probably not quite ready yet.
  14. I'd say the Brewers got bent over in that trade... badly. Some of the guys coming back might have some potential, but if you're dealing away good guys with control and good contracts, you should really expect more.
  15. I don't really mind Colabello on the bench, but Smoak should definitely be playing 1st.
  16. I'm definitely not a fan of this trade unless we can resign Price. However, I'm sure gonna enjoy watching him pitch for the next 2 (hopefully +) months. I think for what we gave up, we should have been able to get Cespedes as well or something.
  17. Meh, just promote Pompey after the deadline.
  18. He was excited to catch him at the start of the year. Maybe not so much now. He's doing a pretty good job catching Dickey though.
  19. R.A. Dickey. Oh, wait...
  20. Looks like a Klingon delicacy.
  21. The triumph of hope over experience? Seriously though, that's pretty stupid.
  22. That's a really, REALLY nice return on a few months of Zobrist.
  23. There's so many various kinds of turf, it's hard to say. Many indoor AND outdoor soccer and football stadiums seem to be using artificial turf now, so it can't be that bad. It's not like this is the carpet we used to have in Skydome.
