  1. 2009 Utley was 30 and an 8 win player (Donaldson is 29 and an 8 win player) 2009 Werth and Howard were 30 and 29 year old, 4.5 win corner OF and 1B (Bautista and EE are 35 and 32 year old 4.5 win COF and 1B) 2009 Victorino was a 29 year old 3.5 win CF (Pillar is a 4 win 27 year old) 2009 Rollins was a 30 year 2.5 win SS (Tulo is a 31 year old 2.5 win SS) 2009 Ruiz was a 30 year old 2.5 win catcher (Martin is a 3.5 win 32 year old catcher). Fans are all screaming...tie up big money into pitching. No reason to see any similarities.
  2. You've likely taken in too much Potash, so I'll just leave you a warning...linking Stoeten is worse than killing a mod Note: I don't know what Potash actually is and if you can take it in, but still my point stands
  3. Yep that is what I was thinking. Go somewhat less in year one. which makes his 4 year opt out a tough decision. Pros 1. Heyward makes the offense better, gives you an opportunity to trade Revere for a pitching upgrade 2. Heyward gives you a guy that makes it easier to not sign one of EE or JB should that become an issue 3. Heyward allows you to trade JB or EE if something goes bust in what is supposed to be a boom season 4. Pompey becomes expendable in the case that there is a boom season and you need an upgrade at the deadline.
  4. witch!
  5. Add in sign Heyward (leaving an OF as a later trade chip or in case of injury) and I could buy in to the NJH GM role
  6. I never have denied the valuation. I've even said that the Jays popularity could drive Rogers to sell as the valuation will be too great to turn down. I just don't buy that much of a revenue increase.
  7. long term maybe. Ad revenue would mostly be pre-sold (and really additional revenue was likely the blank spots they leave and the additional shows and show times lengthened). $50M in value maybe (because Rogers are a lot of the ads and they would paying for those elsewhere would be crazy high) but $50M in revenue...zero chance. Sportsnets highest annual reported non-hockey revenue from 2009 to 2012 was $58 million...that was for their entire year. If ratings over two months were bringing in $50M they would be making bold moves across all aspects of TV way more often. Future sponsorship is likely huge. We had Natalie Agro lined up to come speak to our Sponsorship class in October and she cancelled and said she didn't have a free day until December. I'm betting they have a lot of nice sponsorship deals in place.
  8. Breaking Blue counts as peer reviewed and official...please don't ever make this mistake again.
  9. I like the way they talk about trends. Will contact hitters values rise now? (I don't honestly think so). What I think did happen this year was trade deadline success. Over the years so many of the August 1st anointed trade deadline winners, floundered. This year the Jays and Royals were on top of almost everyone's list. The Mets were not, but mostly because of their epic failures prior to getting Cespedes. That was all forgotten when Cespedes played as well as he did.
  10. Zobrist. And then shop around every hitter not named Donaldson or Martin. Whichever one nets the best pitcher in return, Zorilla gets their position.
  11. I could nutscape you a screenshot!
  12. I didn't read the question either. I answered less than zero but I figure Goins would have to have about a 60 wRC to go below replacement if he was given a full-time SS role. Not discounting the possibility of him being that low but zero chance he'd keep the job at that point anyway. I'll change mine to 0.5 to 1.
  13. I'm actually okay with it having it's own thread. Off season only has small pockets of big activity, and will have a Mod Chat about calming down on the merges. However, I didn't feel that this was one that deserved a re-post and a rant though. For the record if any player does get an off-season Brazilian, and you have photo evidence (maybe a nice Nutscape shot click here for the beauty and art of the nutscape http://metro.co.uk/2015/10/27/men-are-taking-photos-of-their-balls-in-front-of-beautiful-landscapes-5465223/), please start a new thread for it.
  14. Hoffman could win 10 Cy Young's and I wouldn't consider it a worse trade.
  15. Seriously...this is what you choose to complain about. It's not like there was a debate about whether this is the right move or not. It's really about as thread-worthy as a player having an off season Brazilian.
  16. the second half of the speech was f***ing amazing though. He did the greatest bench warmer's bat flip with the mic toss.
  17. If only they didn't trade half the pieces from the Jays.
  18. hmmm, could AA make the conversion from Souvlaki to Ropa Vieja?
  19. He started with Loria. When he said it was a 3 year plan after the Marlins deal...he meant it in a completely different way
  20. Pie - Roe it is. Which makes it disappointing that no one has gone with a Shapiromaniac SN.
  21. I don't jump back in bed with an ex until I've broken up with the current. I've removed the block from my text messages though
  22. I can't remember which rumour hit first was it Synder or TdA...but people started freaking out at just one being dealt.
  23. Horrible Poster right here folks. Jays fans should do a cell phone related cheer...but only through their share everything plan
  24. wouldn't want to have too many conversations with him though.
