  1. Guess we'll see how smart he is. Gibbons gone = I gain some respect for Shapiro. This talent almost took us to the World Series, not Gibbons. Players seem to love him though because he's so laid back, which I think was the problem last time he was here. Team fall apart below him and he couldn't control it. This team doesn't really have bad chemistry guys so it's not the same story. Wouldn't surprise me if they kept him on a short leash though. Hard to fire a guy that almost takes you to the WS. I could see a small losing streak and get rid of him, though he'd probably prefer his guy from day one.
  2. My biggest concern is the drafting and draft strategies. AA built a great farm, depleted it, but built a great one. But I think more credit is due to Tinnish LaCava and the rest of the guys below. So hopefully for the most part that remains the same. With what those guys have done, it would be stupid to try and remove them or let them walk
  3. Shapiro mad he traded for Price and not Carrasco. Teach him a lesson!
  4. Yeah it wasn't the best philosophy, but at the same time, look att he top 15 picks of any draft and look how they turned out. You get maybe two guys that turn into something. Look at Jenkins draft, aside from Trout, there's been very little return on anyone drafted after him. It's still early but no one has really stood out.
  5. My mistake.
  6. Because we were a last place team with a low payroll, no s*** no one wanted to come here. You approach these guys and say "Rogers has committed to building a playoff team and spending a s*** load of money. We're not just signign you, we're spending an additional $30M and we want to be in the playoffs this year and every year forward." Much like the Marlins did themselves.
  7. AA traded two bluechip prospects for a guy that was close to 40 years old. The Marlins deal, JJ was always a gamble, similar to when AJ Burnett was signed. Of course if he was lights out he could have helped us forget about what a bad trade in was. AA tried high valued prospects for backloaded free agent contracts that could have been signed in free agency a year earlier.
  8. I was one of the few that always stuck up for JP. He wasn't great, but he wasnt' terrible. When I asked people why they hated him so much, they could never give a solid answer that I couldn't correct them on. Sure he didn't do any big moves, but he didn't make many bad moves either. And I compare him to AA. They both were given a longer leash and some payroll, and they both panicked, and spent it as fast as they could (AA with his terrible Marlins trade). He didn't draft high potential players, he drafted league ready players, that was his philosophy. He drafted Adams, Jenkins Romero, as they were supposed to be able to come up to the Majors very quickly. They weren't expected to be stars, but provide value. Obviously many of them failed. But there was a time, don't quote me on it, that the Jays had more talent coming out of our system than any other team. It wasn't the best system, but wasn't the worst. I think AA did a much better job but JP could have done a lot worse. Bringing up Trout, drafted at #25, and blaming JP for not drafting him? Really?
  9. I find it doubtful as well, but imagine EE, Bautista, Donaldson, Davis in the middle of the lineup. THat would probably be the most feared middle of the lineup ever. Potential 150HR between the four.
  10. That was exactly it. That and the autograph thing. When we traded him I said Jays would regret it and he'd become a star. He had a decent career but surely didn't live up to his potential.
  11. Lackey, the guy we absolutely hated only a couple seasons ago.
  12. That's hilarious. I'm just picturing AA on 1B and how hilarious that would be.
  13. For the record I wasn't talking about the 9th, but other opporturnies wasted.
  14. Gibbons is an idiot, he has an idiot mind that our bats will carry us, he's too confident in the hitters that they will come through. And it's proven over and over again that it's a bad choice. Multiple chances to manufacture runs and they blew it. KC wouldn't have missed those opportunities. And again, Goins is an idiot. If you're a great defensive infielder that can't hit, you should be an elite bunter. Goins is one of the worst bunters in the league. Numerous times this year he messed up his bunt. Again, why the f*** are you stabbing at the ball like you're trying to bunt for a base hit. put the f***ing bat down, and put the ball in play. Bunting is one of the most basic baseball skills there are.
  15. Exactly. Jose did exactly what he was supposed to. It was just a freak play with good timing that worked out for Cain. Tulo wouldn't have had him with a good grip on the ball, everything just lined up for KC there and it worked out. 95% of the time that play probably doesn't work out the way it did. What I found really cool was how smart of a player Tulo is. Look as Jose is throwing the ball in, Tulo is keeping an eye on Cain with the corner of his eye trying to see if he's going, all while watching the throw from Jose. I'm sure everyone else was yelling, but he already knew Cain was going and had to fire it home. As for the strike calls, yes home teams get calls, but that wasn't even close. I don't understand how you call a pretty consistent game all night until the last inning. I still don't blame umps for the loss, but it was still horseshit.
  16. How was there not enough intereference, he grabbed the f***ing ball! lol
  17. It wasn't really a balk. Reynolds thought he saw a balk, and then thought that's why the Jays whole bench was yelling. But the bench was yelling at the f***ing terrible strike call. Reynolds watched the replay and said it wasn't as bad as he thought.
  18. I don't understand how they replay the HR call, and it's still a homerun. It was pretty clear it was not going to be a homerun. I don't understand how that wasn't corrected. That was a gamechanger right there.
  19. s***** as he is, he has one of the better K rates on our team, so was probably the right move.
  20. Would like to see if any media outlets talk about the poor strikezone, or if they ignore it.
  21. Donaldson was a smart trade at the time. Dickey trade was not. Guess you didn't see it that way.
  22. Probably never. Not sure what donaldson has to do with it.
  23. I know no one wants to hear it, but god, this team with TDA and Thor, and no Martin or Dickey contract, we'd have some room to do some nice things.
  24. Worst part is, making it this far just secured his job.
