I've never liked DD, always saw him as a chucker. Just watched the highlights, I'm shocked he didn't try to drive it and chuck it, though I'm thinking because he didn't have control he dished it off. I haven't really followed the past couple years, how did Amir Johnson depart Toronto? Did they not have any interest in him? Or did he get overpaid? And looking back shoudl Toronto have kept him?
  2. It's not a terrible move. People were just hoping for more. We have Dickey who is another older. I'm sure he'll be a low 4s ERA. Buehrle and his 3.8ERA is gone. Estrada, who knows what he'll come back with next years. Rotation isn't great, but isn't bad. Most nights it will be good enough to win. After Stroman all four guys should be close to a 4.00ERA imo (hopefully Estrada lower). With this offense that should be enough to be a contender. Doesn't sound like Shapiro would be too eager to bring in support down the stretch though.
  3. Wonder how many extra millions he made with his performance after the trade deadline.
  4. My son started kindergarten this year and all the teachers there are pretty good looking. Apparently that's a requirement now.
  5. That's true. I'm not say it's easy work, but it is a pretty good gig. Like I said especially here with the cost of living. It may not be 9-5, and there is a lot of prep work and marking. But you're there 8:30-3:30 with an hour lunch. That's a six hour day with an hour lunch. I exaggerated a bit, but if that's what you want to do, it's a great job. I wouldn't get into it simply for pay/vacation, but if that's what you wanted to do, it's a pretty good lifestyle. I'm fine with teachers getting paid even more, and focus more on the ones that really want to be there. I think it was South Korea that pays teachers on the same levels as doctors.
  6. I would have liked to see Hendriks converted to starter and see how he did. I think I read here that Oakland was going to keep him in the BP but I wouldn't be surprised for him to go starter and put up low 3s ERA there.
  7. There was an article on teachers salary a month or two ago for each province. I think most were around $70k+ after being there for a while. Summers off, spring break, Christmas? Off at 3:30? Hour lunch? Sign me up. That being said $70k here in Manitoba is like making over $100k in Toronto.
  8. I know, you replied before I edited and thought about it! lol
  9. Exactly. Hopefully they do it properly, but I doubt they will. I hope this is a step to making him full time, not sure his contract status with ESPN. I very rarely pay attention to who's doing the games, and usually can't care less, and over the last couple years I've watched a fraction of the games I used to, but I just can't handle Tabler anymore. If I watched as many games as I did in the past I would go insane.

s*** way to end the quater. SHould have been down 3.
  11. What relevance does it have? Well to say a guy wasn't good in 2013 but he was a top prospect in 2013, I think that's pretty relevant. Since we're talking about 2013 and all. That's fair, as a downward trend, and looking at a whole it looks much worse. We'll agree to disagree, but I still wouldn't call his numbers s*****. I've always been a fan of Sanchez, so maybe I'm a homer, but I'm still hoping he can turn into a well above average pitcher. I always thought he was going to be able to figure the walks out.
  12. His 2013 maybe wasn't great, but he still received the most number of #1 votes in the midseason prospect ranking. To be fair his first half was better. But I still wouldn't call 2013 bad. I mean obviously people wanted the walks to go down but it wasn't far off from the year before where people were so high on him. After 2013 you said, "He didn't really take a step back last year, he just treaded water." But now it was 'very bad' and 'not promising'. And you also said he could still be a legitimate ace.
  13. Well I don't see how you can like him for 3/4 of his minor league seasons then turn around and say he was a s***** starter. I don't think there are too many pitchers in baseball who will be pitching in AAA at 21 and you can expect their K numbers to improve.
  14. 33 of 38 people that took part in the 2013 midseason prospects ranked him #1. For a 's*****' starter in the minors, that's pretty good. And he was a 21 year old in AAA last year, I don't think anyone was expecting him to be lights out. It's silly for anyone to pretend like they knew this was coming. Not that I agree with it but even pre-2015 he was considered a top prospect by almost all outlets.
  15. Now that he's putting up mediocre numbers in the Majors, you're pretending like you weren't apart of the Sanchez bandwagon when he was our top prospect and saw it all along. His walks were high but everythign else was so good EVERYONE looked passed the walks thinking he could fix it.
  16. 2014 maybe. But 2013 he was still highly regarded and considered a potential #1 or #2 starter. His walks were always a problem but everyone ignored that in previous years. Like I said his walk rate was high, but other than that you can't say he was a s*** starter. He got rave reviews from scouts, 'experts', everyone. I don't know how you can sit there now that he's an average pitcher and pretend you saw it from day one.
  17. posted in the other thread.
  18. PM me what it was again. I had to head out of town and forgot the exact deal we agreed up. What was the WAR over under?
  19. I don't recall a single person here saying "Wow Sanchez is f***ing garbage." Actually this forum ranked him as our number one prospect in 2013.
  20. I don't think you become a top 50 prospect in baseball by being a s*** starter in the minors. He obviously had problems with walks, but the potential is definitely there.
  21. Great news.
  22. Shortly after you gave them the idea.
  23. Neither do I. Though I think the playoffs were a great 'showcase' for him.
  24. Not too far off from Kang's %. 50HR the last two seasons. But Eric Thames is also mashing there, so I get that. But still seems like it would be a decent gamble.
