Agreed, but also its the Dodgers so i’d never count them out

smolt said dodgers have overcome "much worse than being down 2-0".  So I guess they came back 3-0.  Not going to fact check it because hes a hall a famer

The sad thing is this dodgers series is more important than the World Series right now.  Seeing the dodgers lose will be much more exciting than watching any of these other 3 go at it in the finals.

baseball is just not as exciting if the teams don’t have massive payrolls

I do wonder if a Brewers WS win would start to change the narrative on how best to "win".

The Yanks, Cubs and Astros were top 3 in MLB in homers this year and they all went relatively quietly in the playoffs.

If the Brewers win, coupled with the Jays 2025 approach, perhaps we'll see a shift to more small ball moving forward. Or at least a bit more balance...

Doubtful.

Nothing chnaged when the Royals singled and fan-interfered their way to the WS win.

Anything can happen in a 7 game span thst flies in the face of what youd expect to happen based on a full season.

I think teams are already striving for more balance between contact and power.

Sacrificing... not so much. There's just so much randomness in its effectiveness.

One thing that drove me nuts the otehr day is some guy on MLB radio was sating how the Brewers don't just use power for the sake of using power, they only slug when it matters.

What does that even mean?

That lineup is a joke for a playoff team

As the ole adage goes, "just get in and win, baby"   Milwaukee and Cleveland have been the 2 clear best teams this PS, Rays a distance 3rd cause of their pitching, LAD suxxxxxxx 💩

Brewers- wRC+ 107, ISO 109

Guardians- wRC+ 104, ISO 150

Rays- wRC+ 67, ISO 132

Dodgers- wRC+ 62, ISO 135

Get on Base, timely hits and pitching will win it all, baby!

Blue Jays destroyed these numbers last season. :(

Ohtani sucking is my World Series.  Feel vindicated from last year.

maybe the feds will finally press charges on the gambling scandal or real estate fraud he did in Hawaii now that he isn’t going to be a .900 plus ops hitter next year

Probably not but it should change the narrative on how best to win if you are a low payroll team.  Long ball costs a lot (unless you're the Jays, who have money and still no Long Ball), small ball can be a pathway to a post season berth at pennies on the dollar provided the rest of the house is in order (ie. Prospects, drafting,  internal development, sabremetrics,  luck, etc.)

Yeah man, variance. A hot PS beats everyone period.

So there's a decent shot for literally every-team in it.

That's awesome.  Such high IQ stuff from one of the best of our generation.  It would be really amazing to see JRam win a World Series in Cleveland.  He's the franchise guy who's chosen over and over to stick with this team.  It would be fitting to see him win a title here.

Also he'll never leave. That was his point on term, and money, they will never do him wrong.

We have to go back all the way to 2025 to see a team that strikes out more than average win a World Series.

I think like a team that hits .270 .340 .400 and a team that hits .240 .310 .450 might both score the same amount of runs.   For a long time the team that hit .270 .340 .400 didn't exist, and probably still doesn't to that extreme but we are trending back for some reason.

I'm not sure why.   Maybe the bat speed data is revealing something interesting, that there exist these low bat speed, low strike-out guys who are successful.  Now that teams have that data, maybe more of these players will be developed/given a chance.

It's a weird thing.  A guy can hit like Arraez or Kwan or 2025 Ernie Clement and be worth it.   I guy can hit .230 with 220 ks and be worth it.  Two extremes, but maybe the former are starting to get more chances, because the bat speed data is revealing things are weird and not black and white.
