The math says cheer for the White Sox but my gut says it may not be a bad thing if they lose again.

They are in a free fall and it seems possible that they might go something like 3-7 down the stretch.

Regardless, win today and we will be either 1.5 back or a game back of the WC with 9 to go.

But winning today with Max on the hill will be no small feat.

True, but the Jays don't have the tiebreaker on the White Sox, so that's a negative.

Murakami has cratered so hard. Since the calendar flipped to August he has a 66 wRC+ compared to his 157 wRC+ up to July 31.

A bit can be explained with the babip dragon of .188 in his slump, but a much larger problem is his 42% K rate over that  period.

Heard the White Sox manager the other day on why he hasn't been moved down in the order. quote was something like "Moving him to 8th isn't going to fix his swing"

Wonder if there is a way to blame John Schneider for it?🤔

Naw, that's just what happens when someone tries to close the Jays Playoff Hopes thread.

Even the internet won't allow it.

Honestly it will take someone collapsing for the Jays to even have a chance at this point and the White Sox are much more likely to do that down the stretch than the Guardians. Even without the tiebreaker the Jays are at a point where the White Sox losing might be their best shot. Obviously have to hope the Rangers don’t go on a run either.

Seems like a long shot either way. Really needed Monday’s game.
