Well nice to have the bullpen fully rested. Hopefully Spaghetti could give them 5 innings.

he is averaging exactly 5 innings a start, ugly 1.6 whip, K rate is very good though so that's encouraging

I know every game matters but this is a very big series for us

Really can't afford to have a series like they did against the Royals. Try to win 2 of 3 each time, especially against the team they're chasing down.

Huge series. Reigning AL Champs need to lock in.

If we can steal Game 1, this series, and even the playoffs themselves, will be easy to make.

  • Spaghetti vs. Williams
  • Cease vs. Cantillo
  • Soriano vs. Bibee

So the Jays will add one bat and two pitchers today.

Sean Keys, Ricky T and Mantiply seem like the top guys we could add but that's a ton of lefties. I almost forgot about Josh Smith, he'll be added as well so maybe they hold off on Keys?

Cleveland has a pretty high chase rate, hopefully Arrighetti will have them flailing at the breaking ball

Miles will carve them up for two innings and then they will be in store for a piping hot serving of SPAGHETTI.

Jays win this one 4-2.

Gotta win 2/3 and the Orioles need to f*** right off

I just hope Arighetti can manage to keep the ball in the park as the home run has been a massive issue for him as a Blue Jay. I do like the swing and miss stuff he's displayed but the command needs to improve if he's to provide any value out of the rotation.

Straw starting in LF tonight (a dude who can't hit for a CF much less a corner OF) shouldn't be happening for a team that wants to contend even in a weak WC race. I guess this is more of an indictment on what they feel about Jesus Sanchez in LF.

I know Robert is injury prone, inconsistent, and would have been an expensive one month pickup, but Straw starting in LF (a dude who can't hit for a CF much less a corner OF) shouldn't be happening for a team that wants to contend even in a weak WC race. Ew - starting Straw tonight is gross.

But, Robert has an 82 wRC+ v RHP over the last 3 years.  You also don't want him to starting in LF v. Gavin Williams.

Two games in a row where Sanchez hasn't started against a righty.

With all these new guys being added to the team he might find himself permanently glued to the bench.

Big said Sean Keys isn't getting in there in LF

I guess they think Myles Straw is "hot" as far as he ever gets hot and he might punch a single through at some point

he earned it!

Spaghetti is also an extreme flyball pitcher so getting Straw in there today over Sanchez (the worst fielder in baseball history) or Sean Keys makes sense.

Lefty on the hill tomorrow so probably see Straw again, but then on Thursday we face a righty and Soriano is throwing for us. He's a groundball pitcher so Sean Keys likely starts in LF.

Jesus Sanchez is a pinch hitter only and he can spell Springer when he needs a day off.

Shockingly, Straw had a 105 wRC+ in August (83 PA), which is higher than everyone on the team during that stretch aside from Kirk, Springer, and Bateman.

I guess JS actually is riding the hot hand.

It's pretty sad that a "hot hand" in this lineup is 1 month of hitting 5% better than league average

Sigh

They play baseball almost every day and still the few and far between off days kill me. Good for the team though.

Hopefully Spaghetti is up for it. Most important series of the season.

Keys also can't hit breaking balls and 2 of William's 3 most used pitches are the sweeper and curve ball. Not really a good matchup for him on any level.
