Anyone surprised that the Jays didnt use the break to reorganize their starting staff to ensure their best pitchers start first?  Like why isnt Cease pitching today?

It's worth a thought but they probably want to give everyone a little bit extra rest rather than giving Cease almost no rest and someone like Bieber who is still shaking some rust off too much rest.

I also think it makes some sense strategy wise as the bullpen is as rested as it will ever be for the rest of the season. Perfect for a Miles/bullpen game.

I dunno man... it should be as simple as putting your best players on the field as much as you can.  Cease last started on July 8th and pitched 1 inning during the allstar game, which could be seen as a bullpen day.

Prioritizing much lesser performers like Bieber seems ridiculous and just overcomplicating things unnecessarily.  What happened to the common sense we used to have lol.

Jays should be spending the next 10 days retooling for next Season. This is a lost Season but a retool by selling now can turn a multiple years of missing the playoffs into potentially getting back in the mix next Season with some key off-season moves.

There has been been zero indication this team is good enough to compete. And I would be shocked if they won 75 games even if they stood pat.

Pitchers don't really work this way unfortunately. Pretty much everyone knows this.

It's got a lot of good shows actually. I had ignored it for so long but then I canceled everything else and just dove into their library over the past 6-9 months.

In addition to the shows you mentioned these are all good too: Pluribus, Slow Horses, Widow's Bay, For All Mankind, Murderbot, Chief of War, Foundation, Manhunt, Sugar, Dark Matter,

Dont look now but I finally got my wish... Springer is playing in the field.  He hasnt hit well enough to hog the DH spot and we get to add another needed bat to the lineup.  He cant be worse than Pinango/Sanchez out there.

We have about 2 weeks here to show what type of team we will be.  By all indications you are right but until we start to sell, I will still cheer and give my 2 cents on what we could do to be a winning team.

Based on the results of our starting staff, a little shake up to their routines could be needed.  Lets not pretend like we're yelling great results from them lol.

They're tanking on purpose for a top pick next July.

Finally Valenzuela at DH. Too bad it's after he cooled off (possibly due to lack of consistent PA's), but better late than never, I guess.

Love it! Yeah they need to get Valenzuela in the lineup as much as possible whether as C or DH. Can't keep him riding on the bench and only making 1 or 2 starts per week. He at least should get 5 starts per week to keep his bat active.

As for Cease, probably best to have him make 2 starts next week anyways - at home vs. the Rays and on the road at Fenway vs. the Red Sox.

Jays have to go 40-26 to finish the Season to get to 85 wins which is projected currently to be what it will take to snag the 3rd Wild Card spot. Sounds like a tough task.

that's .650 ball overall, so better than the Dodgers 1st half
