Springer and Vlad need to move down until there are tangible improvements in the at bats.

That at bat from Springer was just not a professional at bat. I’d trust essentially anyone on our triple A team to have a better at bat there. He needs to move down immediately.

Yeah, at least Springer is hitting better lately, but on the other hand, Guerrero is hitting...

Springer has been better lately but there has to be some consequence for grounding out on a ball way off the plate on a 1-0 count when you need a sac fly.

Move him down.

When it comes to the worst contract signings ever a few names come to mind.  I think of Ryan Howard back in the day with the Phils or more recently Anthony Rendon with the Angels; but those were a pittance compared to Vladdy's.

Could this go down as the worst contract signing in the history of baseball?  Sure hope not but I'm starting to worry.

While this loss is frustrating ultimately the bigger concern is Bieber, if he can't be a semblance of even a number three or four this team's in big f***ing trouble.

This team might be better off letting Miles and SWR be the 4th and 5th starters, but guess we’ll see how Bieber does next start.

I don’t know what is going on with who he actually listens to or whatever.

But they need to move him way down the order and tell him his approach is currently trash. Maybe it will light a fire under him.

Yeah, I don't know the answer at this point.  I watch almost every game and I don't see a difference in approach, stance, swing angle, whatever.  Perhaps the adjustments are so subtle that I can't pick them up but I doubt it.

Most reports say the guy is willing to do the work and put in extra time at the cage and Traject Arc so I don't doubt his heart.

Maybe he is one of those guys who doesn't learn and its purely a natural talent play where he now has hit a wall?

Damn curious.

The only solution is to put him in the home run derby.  Either he finds his swing,  or is so embarrassed that he has to actually work on fixing his swing.

Yeah man, I'll take anything at this point, Jabu's needed like yesterday.

f***ing pathetic performance.  Grow a pair and move Vladdy down in the order!!

How about Springer? He’s pretty much a black hole. Vlad at least gets on base and has a decent average

Springer aint worth clogging the DH spot and shouldn’t be hitting higher than 6th

Same thing that happened to Jayson Heyward maybe.  A big guy who peaked at 22 and completely lost the ability to hit the ball in the air, then hard at all.

The weird thing is that he just hasn't hit the ball that hard at all for 2 months.  Not even hard on the ground.

It's not even a ground ball thing anymore compared to his other years.  Just a hitting the ball hard thing.

One of his last at bats was a 98 mph 27 degrees 370 feet.  Problem is missing exit velocity.

The hit he was "robbed" on a potential double?  Actually not a miracle play.  Ball was only hit at 93 giving the 3rd basemen time to react.

Nothing wrong with hitting the ball at 95 if that's the average, but that's like his top end now.  Or at least for the last few weeks.

Yeah I think he’s coasted on his natural talents to this point, and he’s not intelligent enough to make the necessary changes or tweaks to be great like Ohtani/Judge/etc.

Sounds like he might be injured.

I think he’s like a true 70 hit, 80 power, 65 eye so yea I do believe he has underplayed his talent,

It’s the approach. It’s always been kind of weak imo. But he also has something mechanical going on or maybe an injury.

He basically is such a good hitter that he puts balls he shouldn’t swing at in play,

I don't know about worst in MLB history, but it will be in the top 3-5 worst when all is said and done. At least Soto is a generational talent so whatever decline he faces in the end will come after many (many) years of being elite. With Vlad he simply does not have the track record of consistent elite performance, and that was in his physical prime. I'm pretty sure if the Vlad extension never happened, the Jays would have been able to replace him rather easily (not with ceiling but certainly with floor), and that's the sad part in all of this.

Oh well. Ed wanted what he wanted.

Is Joey Votto coaching somewhere? If Vlad could model anyone it’s him.

Edwin is there all the time and apparently isn't helping.  Seems like Edwin would be a great model, big right-handed guy, averaged 40 homers a year for like 6 years.

What would Votto style be?  Even more patient then Edwin?  Rarely swing?

Yea Vlad needs to become basically Votto strike one and two. Focus in sharply on a pitch he wants to hit and spit on literally everything else.

On strike 3c he can let the hit tool eat if he wants.

I don't think that matters anymore tbh.  When it comes to damage our lineup starts and ends with Okamoto right now.  Maybe put Varsho a tier below and then what?  Perhaps when Barger (remember him?) comes back we get some more power.  Vladdy was the lynchpin and without him we suck.

When it comes to ISO this team is anemic!

Yeah, I've said earlier today, well since mid April, it's been RISP and ISO.
