I'm not even that bothered by the games. Today was one of the flukiest losses you'll ever see and Wednesday wasn't much better. Still 4-3 and we will be favored the next two games. 

The injuries are what really sucks.

Jays schedule gets tougher after with the Dodgers coming to town. Important they head into that series with some momentum and playing well.

One thing we can agree, the Jays have the WORST number 2 and 4 hitters of all contending teams in baseball.  Vladdy continuing his playoff level performance was the only thing saving us but if he repeats his 2025 regular season, we are going to struggle to score enough runs. 

Hopefully we can address this at the deadline.

It's no a surprise at all. Yes we have better SP than in 2025, and even if they add Skubal, Skenes and Yamamoto to the group, we still have many holes in offense. Barger, Varsho are back to prior 2025. Sanchez, Lukes, Schneider, Straw are bench players, they shouldn't be used in top 6 of batting order. Springer and KIrk lost their super hero abillities. Vlad can't do all by himself. Gimenes, Clement, Okamoto are ok. In the bullpens we need a far better option than Little. Why no have traded for Robert Jr when he was avalaible for peanut before Mets trade for him?

It’s early to be s***ing on hitters too much.  We’re 7 games in.  A cold week not to start the season and we barely notice it.

You right. Clement should be our 2nd hitter, and we should have Okamoto 4, then Barger 5 and Kirk 6. Sanchez, Varsho, Gimenes, 7-9

Look at the damn Dodgers lineup and look at ours.  They beat us and still added Tucker to a stacked lineup.  We swapped Bo for Okamoto, and made 0 other additions to improve there.

The problem, in LF and RF we only have bench players. No one of them will be starter with the Dodgers, Yankees, Mariners and few other big teams.

The problem wasnt they were too cheap.  They spent money but got depth/fringe players instead of top end talent.  Its like they wanted to raise their floor but neglected their ceiling.

To be fair they went after Tucker by all accounts. And signed arguably the best SP available. 

But the Dodgers got Tucker and the best closer available. We could have really used both but they probably didn't really want to come here. 

All that said hard to feel great about the team right now.

They offered Tucker a 10 year deal with a big AAV.  He chose the Dodgers and a ridiculous AAV.  This wasn’t a case of them cheating out.  They were shopping at the top and couldn’t convince all of them to come.  Going after other options wouldn’t have moved the dial a lot.

 

Barger may still be the impact bat we want on the corner.  It’s too early to judge this year.

Last year they had a habit of playing to their competition.  I am not too worried about it.

Barger he's a .230 AVG hitter with some power, good defense, but shouldn't be used at ranks 3-5 in batting order.

Yup, i remember having these exact concerns about the offense early last year and we know how that turned out.

Nobody’s opinion of anything on this team should be changed after 1 week of games. Lets reconvene in May.
