They are technically eliminated from wild card contention, as are the Toronto Blue Jays.  As likely will the Baltimore Orioles in 45 minutes or so. 

They are not technically eliminated from winning the AL West.   I think about 11 things have to go right.  But they could do it if they win out, and Houston and Texas lose out.

Mookie is putting up a massive September.  219 wRC+ so far to raise his season stats up to a 115 wRC+ and 3.6 WAR.

I love this, as I was worried that Mookie was "done".  His best days are clearly behind him, but he's one of the best baseball players of this era and a surefire HOFer.  Simply incredible that he's been able to transition to SS so late in his career.

The MLB should just seed teams 1 through 6, it's an abomination that one of the Yankees or Sox get eliminated in the first round. The Central and West get a cakewalk to start the postseason, ridiculous.

Yankees should be playing the winner of the West

And Bosox against the Central winner.

I'll take a Red Sox/Yankee matchup all day long.  Rivalry series are typically great theatre.  Would I rather see it happen deeper in the playoffs?  Yes I would.

Philly likely has to burn Wheeler tomorrow haha which means he'll have to come back to pitch on short rest for Game 3 of the WC.

They're supposedly starting Jose Urquidy today.

I will say this: while last October was one of the most memorable months we’ve ever had as Blue Jays fans, it was also emotionally exhausting and stressful as hell haha.

So as disappointing as it is not having the Jays in it this year, part of me is actually looking forward to just enjoying October baseball for what it is - watching great games, appreciating the drama, and not feeling like my blood pressure is going through the roof every single night.

Phillies starting Nola on 2 days rest apparently. Eight days ago they were tied for WC1 and were 5 up on the D-Backs. Crazy to think they might miss the playoffs entirely now.

Rays have a big lead over the Phillies, Corbin Carrol is having a helluva time in CF today, a triple as a result of him diving and missing a fly ball, then losing one in the lights.

I think most people have.  Verlander is living the dream man.  Monster HOF career in the mound.  One of the last starting pitcher warriors who gave you 200+ innings and shoved during the playoffs.  

And he lands Kate Upton, who was essentially the hottest woman on the planet when they start dating.  He woos her at a baseball game. 

He's literally living every baseball guys dream life.  Kudos to the legend!

I'm actually a bit sad. I thought the Tigers would be great this year and Verlander could get one more shot at the title, while giving them #4/#5 innings.  This was a close as we could get to a Billy Chapel day.  I'll take it.
