He'll probably exceed 60 career WAR this year, career ERA, xERA, FIP and xFIP all below 3.00, 11.1 K/9, 2.1 BB/9 Yeah I think he's a HOFer. If he pitches for another 3-4 years, might even eclipse 70 WAR.

That outlines my fear with him as well. I can't help but think of Jacob DeGrom and the constant trips to the injured list for a good chunk of his prime when he was averaging 99 MPH with the 4 seamer.

I wish i had faith they were smarter than this and will capitalize on the MLB's momentum in popularity and not risk alienating fans but, I feel like this is the year where the owners get stupid and demand a salary cap and dig their heels in

I question what goes on within the union when Qualifying offers repeatedly are bargained for changes. Seriously, such a small percentage of members ever receive one that you would think the union would focus more on the arb changes and pre-arb salaries.

Plus it's WAY less of a problem now that you don't forfeit a first round pick And a few players have definitely benefitted from a 20M payday they probably didn't really deserve because the team hoped they'd turn it down LOL
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 28 Author Posted May 28 Owners offer today! Key details of the owners' offer include: Cap and Floor: A maximum team spending limit of $245.3 million and a minimum team payroll of $171.2 million. Revenue Sharing: A 50/50 split of baseball revenue, alongside centralized sharing of local media revenues to combat TV blackouts and reduce the spending gap between small and large-market teams. Tax adjustments: A "competitive-integrity tax" for low-spending teams, mirroring the luxury tax penalty. Teams currently over that proposed cap = 6 Teams currently under the proposed floor = 15

glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 29 Posted May 29 The owners seem united. First time they’ve formally proposed a salary cap system since 1994 apparently, and looks like their proposal involves centralized local revenue, which is huge because that’s where much of the revenue disparity exists among teams. A year ago I thought losing games in 2027 was unlikely. Now I feel like it’s inevitable. How many games they are willing to lose is the question. If owners have agreed to consolidate local revenue then they are clearly all in. The strange thing is the owners proposal is more in line with what most baseball fans want from the looks of it. The MLBPA will be the heels this time around, especially if they miss a bunch of games.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Does anyone have an actual link to the proposal? Fans are eating up what the owners proposed but I guarantee you that 171M floor is all fugazi. I've seen that it already includes player benefits, thus taking the real payroll number down to 150. I've read it includes amateur bonuses too but I'm not sure if that's accurate or not. It's apparently 200 pages long, so I'm sure there is all sorts of bullsh*t in there.
