BTS Community Moderator Posted March 26 Posted March 26 The giant digital red adobe ad behind home is making everyone in front of it look like a hologram. The viewing experience of watching a game these days f***ing sucks
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26 Posted March 26 You guys realize that the game is on Netflix in the US right? Its on Sportsnet 1 in Canada. Stangstag 1
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I thought MLB was outlawing the use of the strikezone box for all broadcasts?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Jazz is an entertaining interview. I'm surprised they're allowed to do an extended discussion in the middle of the first game of the season though.

As someone who plays high level softball, which is like professional baseball, I hate interviewing during live play. It feels stupid and cringe lol
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Just now, BTS said: Caballero lost the first ever ABS challenge He challenged the clear strike and didn't challenge the clear ball.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26 Posted March 26 This broadcast is soooooo cringe... who had Logan Webb gettin' rocked on their bingo card.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Jazz thinks he's a 50/50 10 WAR player, dude's delusional.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26 Posted March 26 What's the O/U on interviews, f*** off already man?

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 26 Posted March 26 The Giants of all teams got this spotlight game. Absolute ass whooping.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Putting Luis Arraez at 2B behind Logan Webb is certainly... a decision
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Although Webb got hit around his FIP was 1.49, so not awful anyway.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Bonds said tonight that Steinbrenner called and offered to make him the highest paid player in baseball when he hit free agency - but said he had sign by 2 pm (I forget what time he said it was, but it didn't give him much time). Bonds said "excuse me" and hung up. Later signed with SF. I also found it wild that Adames was the first Giant to hit 30+ HRs since Bonds did in 2004. That park is hard to hit bombs in. Laika Community Moderator Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Someone explain to me why Bob Manfred thinks these single games are a good idea for opening day? 98% of fans with blue balls don't care that much about watching the Yankees or Dodgers plan some random team pulled out of a hat. Every team in baseball should play on the league's opening day. You can do a single isolated game at 1 PM ET if you want, and then everyone else later. This would be more in the spirit of baseball. And then some of these weird early off days. Several teams don't even play today. The Yankees and Giants are off today and then off again on Sunday. lmao, why? bronson44, Terminator, Stangstag and 1 other 4

Off days in the early season are often to allow opening day to be delayed and played the next day (since opening day is a big game and often a more expensive ticket). So the Jays and Marlins have no risk of getting rained out so they don't have an off day baked in after opening day. I'm not sure why the Braves don't start until Friday though.. As a fan of baseball as a whole, I wholeheartedly agree that opening day should include ALL teams. Spanky__99 and G-Snarls 2

It feels stupid and cringe lol I mean… that comparison is kind of a stretch. Calling it “like professional baseball” doesn’t suddenly make in-game interviews some massive injustice—it just makes it sound like you’re taking yourself a bit too seriously. Plenty of actual pros deal with that stuff, and yeah, it might be a little awkward, but they handle it because it’s part of the entertainment side of sports. Acting like it’s beneath you or “cringe” just comes off more like complaining than anything else. At the end of the day, it’s a quick question, not some impossible distraction that ruins the integrity of the game. If anything, it just highlights who can stay composed and who gets thrown off by something minor. So if a short interview mid-play is enough to break focus, that might say more about the player than the situation. I get not loving it, but acting like it’s some ridiculous concept is a bit much.
