No one can argue that Cease is one of those dudes who legitimately may be able to win a Cy Young in the next 7 years. 
 

Cost is what it is. Maybe 1 extra year than what he was projected to get. It may end up being close to projections in NPV due to deferrals anyway.

Talking to a Padres fan currently and he says the major issue with Cease last season in particular was trouble beyond the 3rd inning.

This is definitely one of those deals agents and players take a note of, especially this early in the offseason. It screams "come win with us"

Deferrals make it interesting. That's going to lower the AAV and CBT hit, which could give them more room to work with depending on what it comes out to. 

I do think the timing makes the team more appealing to other FA's. Curious to see how the rest of the winter looks. I think one of Tucker or Bo is very realistic.

San Diego is a pitchers park.  His fielding independent metrics worse away from San Diego.  But the Jays superior defense and offense assuming one of Bo, Tucker, or Belly is signed will mean plenty of W's.

Bo hasn't won a WS.  Tucker has.  If Bo really desires a WS and I'm sure he does, his interest in resigning with Jays just went up big time.

Bo is too good to be waiting like that.  If hes ready and the Jays are happy with the deal then it would have been announced already.
