Im not even sad, im just annoyed. Yes, this. Varsho is a heavy pull hitter. If nothing else, play the percentages here. They didn’t, and it cost them the WS. Nobody honestly blames IKF if Varsho hits a liner to Muncy and he gets doubled up. That’s angels in the outfield sh*t like Gimenez’s one. What happened was not. Jays24 and Stangstag 2

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 IKF sucks but there were numerous chances for the Jays to simply hit a fly ball that wins that game easily. Varsho not being able to get a ball to the Outfield is not being talked about enough. Having a fast pinch runner option may have been the way better roster decision over having a 13th pitcher that didn’t really get used outside the 18 inning game. In hindsight you wish it was Straw who was on the bases. But they seemed reluctant to use Davis Scheneider defensively despite holding his own all year. IrishCanuck and Stangstag 2

Worst part of all this is that you heard him say "I am going to manage games based on what im seeing out there and try to stay out of the players way" before Game 7. Like f***, it took you that long to do what majority of the fanbase has been screaming for? Im extremely grateful for the run they just had but he looked like a complete idiot on so many occasions. While its easy to hate on his bad decision, you dont get to the world series if not making good decisions either. The players just needed to execute on the NUMEROUS chances they had in Game 7. Thats pretty much what it came down to and thats where most of my blame will fall for now. IrishCanuck and Acemeister79 2
IrishCanuck Verified Member Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 Jonaton Clase would have scored..... Hoffman blew about 8 saves this year and had about 8 wins, so that's about 16 blown leads.... so upset I don't think I can watch next year

Should get a few more shots. Chances to win it all are still probably only 1/15 any year. Better than Pirates (now that I said that watch Paul Skenes lead them to a World Series) Yeah can you imagine being a diehard fan of the pirates, you may never see the playoffs ever again in your life

I wonder if the Blue Jays running into outs on the bases made IKF more hesitant to take a bigger lead. He also appeared to initially stutter on contact. He definitely didn't get a good jump or even a walking start down the line which also could have made the difference. IrishCanuck and Stangstag 2

Its just easy to point to IKF's play because that was the easiest one to control. Matching your lead to Muncy's was the difference between winning and losing, no additional what ifs needed here. ValiantJaysFan Verified Member Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 Whole lot of coulda woulda shoulda on this thread. I get the disappointment, I’m crushed. But hindsight is 20/20. If Varsho just did his job, if Clement just hit that ball 6” higher, if the ball didn’t get lodged, etc…fact is we left way too many RISP, you have to give it up for Yamamoto who is a cheat code, and make improvements to the bullpen (get a true lights out closer), grab another starter, maybe resign Bo but I doubt it…small improvements are all this team needs. We could be back next season in the same spot. Yeah a lot would have to go right but with the way these guys play together, no reason to doubt them. Plus the Yankees aren’t getting any younger and what are the chances Cal Raleigh is this good next year too? There’s bound to be regression. For us too, probably. A lot had to go right and it did, but next year we have a budding star all season (Barger), Clement who I think is going to have a career year after that playoff performance…he has carved out a real solid place for himself finally. Yesavage…I dunno, I hope he’s as good as he looked but I expect some struggles next year. anyway now I’m rambling but point is, we did it once, we can do it again. We haven’t won the World Series the past 32 years either and we all lived. The fact they got within two outs, and then one swing of winning it this year is ultimately an amazing achievement. Once this scabs over I think more people will appreciate it. BatFlip, BTS and Pinkfloid 1 2

Only since 2013 minus some rebuild years they have upped their game as far as competing with bigger payrolls. And we have 3 ALCS appearances in 11 years. Eventually we get back to a World Series and it might be next year, might be 5 years but we will get there
