If gausman went 30 pitches he should still be good for 3 days rest id assume?

For the World Series? I think he just would go game 2 on full rest. Trey game 1.

Not against using Gausman but there is a cost there in that he wouldn't be available for WS game 7

I keep saying it but they should be using Bassitt and Lauer more. They were above average all season and most of our pen is average at best. If they're injured then I don't get why they rostered them.

He normally would get lit up pitching 2 days in a row all season too. Wonder if that factors in here and they don’t plan to use him in leverage tonight at all.

What if I told you he was better this season on no rest than he was on 2 days of rest?  SSS alert but these are the numbers.

Given how bad Seattle has looked against non Little spin I am surprised we didn't see more of Bassitt against them.

One of Lauer or Bassitt would be a great wrinkle to throw at the Mariners lineup at this point. You could even surprise the top of their order with that matchup.

It won't happen. They used Bassitt in the game 1 blowout and must not have liked what they saw? I don't really get it either, especially since Schneider clearly trusts almost nobody in the bullpen at this point, aside from Varland.

The WS would be October 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 31, Nov 1

Yesavage, Gausman, Bieber, Scherzer, Yesavage, Gausman, Bieber

I get what you mean, but you'd then have Trey as the WS G7 secret weapon

Anyway, gotta do whatever it takes to win tonight even if that means Jose Berrios has to start two games in the WS

That's irrelevant.  We're talking about how he'll perform on Game 7 if called upon.

Hoffman has typically been lit up when he doesn't have his velo and his command is awful by the metrics.  It's great he dominated last night - he did have good command for once. I just have no faith he'll have that type of command again anytime soon, because I watched him pitch this year.

I don't like the prospects of him trying to close out Game 7 throwing 94 tonight.   But a broken clock is right twice a day, so may he'll have good command in B2B outings for the first time in 3 months.

Have you actually been watching Hoffman pitch in the post season? He's been tremendous and has hardly given the opposition anything. He's presently featuring a 1.42 ERA/1.72 FIP and has been the type of shutdown reliever the team has needed when he's been called into games.
