Narratives don't matter to players. Maybe to the sports writers and fans.  These are pros.  Yanks went to WS last season.  They know post season pressure.  

Jays are the underdogs and still are.

In fact Yesevage no supposed to pitch against the NYK in this series.  So he will have been able pitch 7 innings easily.
