Slade Cecconi in a playoff elimination game is scary. I'm guessing they have no plans to let him go more then 3.

I have no idea how he's their starter. Is Parker Messick injured or something? Would have neutralized Greene, Carpenter and McKinstry as well.

Maybe he's up next? They've used a lot of pen arms.

8th pitch second inning is ideal for them. Increases the likelihood that they push him for a full second time through the order.

TIgers' inability to score with men on base will surely cost them again later this game. Honestly lucky in scoring the first run with the 1B having a real shot at preventing the run if he came up with it cleanly.

Lead off 2B for Valera. J-Ram ain't going to get s*** to hit here

And he drives the run in on a ball lol. Gotta give credit to Flaherty for executing his pitches pretty well, JRam is just a monster.

This Sox-Yanks series going to 3 games is working out nicely for the Jays.

  • Yankees
    • If Bednar pitches tonight (seems likely), he'll have pitched in 6 out of the their last 7 games
    • Cruz, Williams, and Weaver are all in a similar boat.
    • Boone's other options are mediocre relievers who are rusty.
    • If Shitler doesn't eat very many innings, they probably turn to Warren which takes him out of Game 1 consideration against us. They are probably starting Gil at that point.
  • Red Sox
    • They only have 1 playoff starter in Crochet who needs to throw 120 pitches each game because they have to rely on Bello, Harrison, and Early as bulk pitchers in their other games.

As long as the game is close, both managers will be emptying out their pens in a do-or-die game tonight. The off day will help them both a little, but even so their pitching is going to be a mess entering the ALDS. Hopefully the Jays can take advantage.

Probably the most underrated catcher in baseball, maybe one of the most underrated players period, Dillon Dingler with the big go-ahead HR. 4 WAR season!

I just learned reading this that Dillon Dingler had a 4-war season

He didn't just Patrick Bailey his way to it either, a very respectable 109 wRC+ with a .360 xwOBA. Of course, he's also an exceptional defensive catcher.

What is Sabrowski doing?

If there's one thing I want it's my pitcher taking his sweet time in an elimination game with a fast runner burning it down the line.

Seriously. No urgency. Take your time out there.

Between this and the Juan Soto bomb in last year's playoffs, Hunter Gaddis might not be a very popular guy in Cleveland.

Pitching a guy 3 days in a row after he had thrown 20 pitches the previous two games.

I know it's playoff baseball but to ask guys to do things they almost never do after a 162 game grind. They're not superheroes.

Yeah definitely, plus it's also the familiarity aspect of the hitters facing the same guy so often. If starters have a times through the order penalty, then surely relievers do as well when they're seeing them every day. And Gaddis is no Mason Miller that the stuff just wins out ultimately.
