No reason to bring in erratic little give Nance a shot Fair enough, i suppose i can see that. I did want Nance to be given the chance but maybe he should have been given more rope.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Team had 6 good starters and could have strengthened their bullpen by using one of them there. Instead their indecision has led to wasting our best starter all year in Lauer by hardly using him for almost 3 weeks now while the bullpen falls apart. Kudos to management.. Stangstag and hanton 2
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Since June 1, Little has a BB/9 of 7.2. Since June! If you look at his numbers since July and since August, they get progressively worse. This BS of "he's my guy" and using 5 expletives in every post game interview to show how much support you have for whoever messed up that particular day is great when you're a minor league manager, but when you're playing in a division race, you need to adjust on decision making.

Also, not pinch hitting schneider for clement and just leaving bassit in too long. Everything to do with pitching on this team is 90% the front office's fault but still bad decisions i thought today. Schneider need stop regularly overusing in the same game Rodriguez, Dominguez, Varland and Hoffman. Because we end up without reliable pitchers for closing game next day.

Yeah bigger picture decisions like this have been a problem. Plus not doing more at the deadline. The day-to-day decisions of JS are the least of the team’s problems IMO. Funky and Jays24 2
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 I don't blame JS too often but why not use Tate? perfect opportunity to see what he has instead you go to Nance and Little ; both have been used way too much already
Doubleplay21 Verified Member Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Only person who thinks Little is top 10 relievers in all baseball is Schneider. neverbeenhere 1

gruber9292 Verified Member Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Things are starting to get a little too big for JS. Give Nance a bit of rope, he's been good all year.

Should have get one of the reliever from Pirates at the deadline. And Barger, Clement, Lukes, France are good utilities players, but they play too much. Needed a good bat too. that can play everyday. BB17 Verified Member Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Little has been dog s*** for a while. He really should only be used in low leverage until he finds his command.

Instead should have recalled yesterday Fisher and Fluharty, and send back Little and Lucas to Buffalo. We can't bring them up right now because of roster rules, but I would expect both to be back soon.
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 The most frustrating fact is that JS would insist using Little in high leverage after this game as well

jaysthebest Verified Member Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 I'm prepared to see that JS still believes in our bullpen and he thinks Little is our high leverage pitcher.

They still haven’t figured it out even after leaving Cleveland in 2016 and seeing what happened with Andrew Miller. Or how we missed a playoff spot in 2021 because of the bullpen. Or how we choked the 2022 playoffs. Or how we never improved the offense in 2023 and lost 2 close games in the playoffs. Jays24 and Funky 2
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Looking at the splits, Friedl and Marte are both significantly worse against LHP. So the move to Little wasn't illogical and in the end it might be easier to just blame Little for not doing the job, but he hasn't been doing the job for months, so as a manager you have to have some feel for the game and take recency into account. Hell, bring Lauer into the game if he's in the pen now. Little is broken and has been for a while. Stangstag and Terminator 2
