Absolute dumpster fire. Not easy winning the AL East.

I mean... the team is far from a dumpster fire. But the second half of your statement is true.

Just felt like the team was off-balance this whole series. Even the win felt... off.

Typical Little outing these days.  Dude has been pretty bad after a great start.  Regression to the mean I guess.

Since June 1st his FIP is 3.19 and his xFIP is 3.60 with a 13 K/9 and a .188 BAA.  The walks are up big time though, which is a concern.

So the Marlins were going to go Quantrill-Junk-Eury Perez but they put Quantrill on waivers yesterday. So probably see Ryan Gusto instead? Their whole rotation is TBD for the upcoming series but it's probably something like;

  • Bieber vs. TBD
  • Berrios vs. Junk
  • Gausman vs. E. Perez

Well ya... youre underselling the main concern everyone has with Little lol.

He doesn't really pay for the walks though... nobody hits HRs against him, everything is either a whiff, a ground ball, or in the dirt.

That said, I certainly wouldn't be calling his number with the bases loaded.

Little been pretty lights out in every month but August so far and that's largely due to one bad outing against LAD.

He can run a really high walk rate, even higher than most high-k/elite relievers, because his K rate and GB rate are both so good.

Even so, walking over 6 per 9 doesn't seem good. Needs to get that down in the 4s.

The boys had their minds on the partying they're doing tonight in Miami with the off day tomorrow. Time to crack open the little black book.

The wild pitches have been a killer too. He's had a few runs score from bouncing a ball in the grass.

And those are the types of moments that can especially hurt in the postseason.

You're not gonna like who leads MLB in reliever wild pitches then.

Seranthony Dominguez with 11.

Yeah both of them have had their unravelling moments the last couple of weeks.

Definitely something that you hope doesn't happen on the bigger stage, but always a possibility. When you have nasty stuff, sometimes it gets away.

I think its fair to say both of those guys have pretty poor command its not just about their stuff being nasty. It kind of is who they are. Even Hoffman has pretty poor command but he just tries to throw it down the middle and because his stuff is so good, gets away with it more often than not.

All of those guys also have the ability to strike 3 guys out in a row with the bases loaded so you just kind of hope they don't lose it.

LIttle has nasty stuff. Stuff+ of 117 on the sinker, 125 on the knuckle curve.

Location ... yeah... it's pretty bad at 81. He moves that back towards even 93 like it was last season and he's untouchable.

Hoffman ... Stuff+ 116 on the 4seam fastball and sinker, 111 on the slider, overall location+ is 93.

Neither guy is command master. They both rely on their stuff, just ... very different stuff.

Springer who carried the team most of the Season was finally getting help and he came back and everyone sucks again. Poor dudes back.

Man, feels like they really wasted a rare opportunity with Bassitt having a good road start.

Ah well, they lost 2 of 3 to the As a while back and didn't have to cancel the season, I'm sure they'll survive this one too.

Right. Wasted op, but you can’t expect to always beat the bad teams all the time. The good teams would be like 110-52 if that were the case lol.

The Pirates swept the Phillies, Mets, and Tigers this season. s*** happens.

This team’s identity why they have been successful this season is high IQ brand of baseball, situational hitting and wise approach.

not hacking away to every fcg above the strike zone fastball

its dumb baseball

Varsho the Jekyll and Hyde and his high strike out rate ruins everything

its moronic

I'm saying that despite the high walk rate, the results are still generally good to very good.  Hoping Pete can help him become a hair more consistent before the playoffs, but I won't be holding my breath.  It certainly makes me uncomfortable, but as noted by several others - it is what it is.  It's so f*cking nasty that you live with it.  We have several bullpen arms who are similar.  Everyone should be getting used to it.

Little poor play has made it easy to have Lauer in the bullpen. Little should be sent to Buffalo when Bieber comes back.

He had a good outing. 2 outs, walked one, France should have got that ground ball to first.

Pham is a piece of trash, just stay away from him

He is but at the same time it's kinda funny he trashed the Blue Jays on social media, then drove in the only 2 runs against them to win the game. You know you'd love it if a Blue Jay had the balls to do that and then came through for a win in the next game he played against the team he trashed. Now he can keep talking sh*t about the Blue Jays.

Yeah

Yankees have suddenly figured things out

Need to take care of Miami and Minnesota while the Red Sox and Yankees hopefully keep each other equally at a distance

Dodgers are low key on the struggle bus this year. Could lose the division and could still technically miss the playoffs!

Honestly that would be great for Baseball.
