2021 was the most frustrating team. The offense was great but was so unclutch in late innings.

Hoffman has retired 8 of his last 9 outs via strikeout. He’s starting to resemble the ultra dominant April version just in time for the stretch run as he’s commanding his entire arsenal so much more effectively. I think the deadline bullpen additions will help avoid more of the 4 games in 5 day stretches for Hoffman as those largely oreceeded the periods where struggled the most.

Watching yesterday was a real treat. First hitter, RHB, he set him up perfectly for that backdoor sinker that he almost never throws .... froze him solid. 

2nd hitter, also RHB, seeing that sinker now he can't just give up on pitches on the outer edge thinking they're 4 seamers or sliders...  now since he has to protect against that sinker he just saw.... does nothing but try to swat flies over a couple of nasty sliders. 

3rd guy - he was just overmatched. Hoffman was pretty much pinpoint up and in, then low and away with another fastball, to set up the splitter for the whiff... perfect. 

 

I know we won't get that perfection every night but seeing how it's supposed to work is near boner-inducing.

It's called having friends & a social life not relegated to mommy's basement glued to the tv. A concept I know is hard for you to understand.

As for your Straw argument it's not the gotcha you think it is. He had a career day. That said, with a little luck and some hard work maybe they've unlocked something? which I would welcome, because unlike you, I want ALL the players do do well rather than being right.
