MLB is such a joke.

You never know what the ball is going to do year to year.

It’s wild that in 2025 they’re still manufacturing baseballs by hand. And as long as that practice continues there will forever be variance in the balls

Do we know if there are any verbal agreements in Vlad's deal?   I sure want to know if there's something we need to uphold 11 years from now.

Very much so.

Balls should be hands off at this point, except for backup catchers in Dollar Store parking lots.

It is far from standard practice. Your new manager is under no obligation to uphold a wink wink nudge nudge agreement between you and your previous management.

What would you do if he decided not to? Go the the labour board?

You're conflating standard practice with obligation. I never said that employers must uphold non-contract promises, but they usually do if it's a good, productive employee.

That's especially true when still existing higher up managers/owners were involved in making the promise, like what is overwhelmingly likely in Devers' case.

Rafael Devers To Start Work At First Base With Giants

June 17th, 2025 at 5:00pm CST • By Darragh McDonald

...

“They’re the men in charge,” Devers said today, per Chris Cotillo of MassLive. “I’m here to play wherever they want me to play.”

You love to see this. I love it here. Baseball is amazing.

f*** the sox. Honestly I hope Devers feel incredibly petty and works hard on being a good 1B. He wasn't particularly in the right with how he dealt with things, but it sounds like Red Sox management is a disaster and how they managed this situation is emblematic of that.

100 percent. These guys sign big contracts and turn into divas. Massaging their egos is part of being a good franchise.

The Sox will buckle the second a star player doesn’t kiss John Henry’s ass.

**omg let’s clutch our pearls and forget he’s hitting .300 and and on pace for 35 bombs, he said he doesn’t want to DH**

I hope Devers goes on a MVP level tear the rest of the season and the Red Sox front office gets booed on fan day again.

Has anyone ever gotten the last word on your Grant?  I'm curious how long we could keep this going.

Such a firm stance on a subject built solely on rumours, verbal recounts and incomplete information is kind of dumb.  How do you know Devers is a good employee?

On a related note....

Ortiz is a Red Sox mouthpiece lol. He has a stake in ownership I believe. Of course he'd try to make the Sox look like the good guys in this scenario. Also lol @ Big Papi talking about someone else having an ego.

The more that comes out the more it seems like he wasn't.

You haven't said anything of substance for 3 consecutive posts. You're just trying to start a pissing match and I'm not interested in that. If you have something interesting to say then say it and I'll respond.
