The Tigers, Houston Astros, Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox are in the hunt to sign Bregman, who has a six-year, $156 million offer from the Astros on the table. The Astros have been trying to shed payroll to keep Bregman, will any other teams step up and beat their offer?

Going to guess the Astros freeing up money by trading Pressly is a precursor to bringing him back?  Then they'll also need to trade Peredes most likely.

Why? Parades moves to 2nd and Altuve moves to LF is what I've read.

Altuve is not moving to the outfield at age 36 or however hold he is lol.

That's not new news, man. Jays have been in on Bregman since he's become a FA. Just sayin'...

Well, you'll have to talk to him then I guess. IDKWETTY.

Also, playing the OF is far easier than the MIF, ya dingleberry.

Things change throughout free agency as teams spend their resources elsewhere.  Houston was out and is now back in and apparently still has their offer on the table.

Stop being the post police because clearly no one gives a cares about your whining dude, the news cycle continue in the off-season.

If the Jays got Alonso tonight, I wonder if they'd still be in on Bregman...

That'd be awesome. I don't give a s*** how much money they spend.

I think it would have to be either or.  I'm sure they're selling Alonso on Vlad playing some 3B so he can play some 1B.  No one wants to be a full time DH at that age when still trying to seek big dollars.

No way we get both Alonso and Bregman.  Right now 1 would be lucky considering Bregman has multiple options and Pete wants to stay in NY.  If we can get Pete then pivot and grab the best SP who will sign with us.

Alonso and Max are still a possibility which would be great! My hopes are way up. I'm kinda used to being disappointed though at this point.

Yup. Id we can get one of Bregman or Alonso and a capable SP I'll take back all the bad things I've said about Dannon and the Roki debacle.

Giminez

Santandar

Alonso or Bregman

Flaherty, Max or Pivetta

Hoffman and Sandlin

Is a pretty good haul. He really needs to improve the development/drafting but this off-season is already miles ahead of last off-season

Don’t forget Yimi.  The pen looks solid as of now and I’m not sure they are done with it yet.  It’s been a solid offseason as is but we need another bat or SP at the minimum for us to realistically be a threat.

There's still a ton of good relievers on the market too. Picking up another big bat could go a long way to convincing some of those that the team is legit next year.

Signing a starter adds Rodriguez to the bullpen depth and I think that should be good enough, assuming Hoffman is ready to become our closer.

I agree and if not Scherzer, my first realistic choice all off season has Flaherty and would help bridge the gap as we lose guys like Bassit next winter.

He makes a ton of sense and would vault this team into a AL East contender.

Houston has natural advantages over us, of course. So we probably have to beat their offer by a good bit.

Nightengale says 6 for 180 makes him think but with no state income tax and it being the only team he's played for it might take 7 years which starts to get pretty damn scary if you map it out.

  1. Age 31: 4 WAR
  2. Age 32: 3.5
  3. 3
  4. 2.5
  5. 2
  6. 1.5
  7. Age 37: 1

Agreed about the impact, he fits perfectly with the team.  However, I wouldn't go near a 7 year deal for him but my job isn't on the line lol.

Jays should just go 4 years to get Alonso than 7 years for Bregman.

Would you guys prefer Alonso 3 for $90mil or Bregman 6 for $180mil?

If that's with deferrals, I say sure, lol. Either one!

I would be happy with either just because the Jays become MUCH better in the immediatate short term.

Bregman is the better fit because of his defense at 3B but i'm much more confident in Alonso being good throughout his contract while I expect Bregman to fall off in his last 2 years.

I will choose Bregman, because we need a 3B who can hit and bring  good defensive, also it's clear that Alonso only use the Jays to get a better offer from the Mets. But on other hands, if Atkins really offered  6/180M to Bregman and he didn't signed yet, main he probably wait for a better offer from the Astros or Red Sox. Ideally we should sign Bregman and Flaherty., With Bregman at 3B, can use Clement at 2B or SS when trading Bichette, without the need find replacement to play SS. In fact, can even trade Bichette for prospects,  and use these prospects to acquire Robert Jr.

Springer

VLAD

Robert jr

Santander

Bregman

Clement

Kirk

Varsho

Gimenez
