BTS Community Moderator Posted April 23, 2025 Posted April 23, 2025 Orioles ace Dean Kremer has given up 5 runs in 5 innings to Washington, his ERA is up to 6.93, and the team is about to fall 4 games under 0.500. Life is good as an Orioles superhater. Spanky__99 1

Fangraphs says they have a 7% chance of making the playoffs right now, which is simply the outside chance that everything that could go wrong, does go wrong in the NL. This is sad, but Cutch might be a guy to help the Jays right now. It's been less pronounced the last couple of years, but he always hit lefties well. Fully expect he's just doing his final lap in Pittsburgh though before he retires.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2025 Posted April 24, 2025 Looks like Pete Crow Armstrong is having a big breakout season. DeRosa does a nice job breaking down the adjustments he's made here: The kid is an incredible talent and should be a stud in CF for the Cubs for the foreseeable future. Must be nice. Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2025 Posted April 24, 2025 I asked this before and was tared and feathered, but is Torkelson back or breaking out finally? Those numbers are starting to stabilize and his statcast page is red hot. Seems like a crazy turnaround from a guy they were considering sending to AAA to start the year, but it's exactly what the Tigers needed to happen. Greene, Carpenter, Tork and Torres is a pretty nice little grouping at the top of their lineup. Fun stat - Tommy Kahnle is throwing his changeup 85% of the time so far this year....

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2025 Posted April 24, 2025 The power from PCA is the biggest surprise. 30 HR bat, who knew.

Not buying that at all just yet. His top end exit velos aren't that good, and he's overperforming his xWOBA pretty significantly. He's probably a true talent 15-20 HR bat unless he significantly alters his approach. His K/BB rates are pretty bad and I don't know if he has a Bichette hit tool or Javy Baez bat speed + power tool to make up for it.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2025 Author Posted April 26, 2025 Welp... Quote Gilbert was removed from his start Friday against the Marlins due to right forearm tightness. Analysis Gilbert made it through three perfect innings before his forearm forced him to depart early, striking out three batters in the process. Two off days for the Mariners within the next week will give the 27-year-old extra time to recover before he's due to start again, but future updates from the team will help determine if he'll be able to do so.

If he was younger like 27 or 28, might be a little bit more believable. I remember Chris Shelton going off in early 2006 haha. Never heard from him again. Spanky__99 1

Interesting, as there are some here who regularly blame Atkins for not taking action promptly to make changes if they go through a rough patch. I don't think anyone actually thought the Braves were screwed after that slow start. I think we all knew there was a good chance they'd crawl back into it. They're a good team if their SPing can stay healthy.

Agreed to an extent, but at least the Braves have proven bats whereas the Jays are pretty much running a bunch of #8-9 hitters for more than half of their lineup. Braves also are still without Acuna and have been without Strider & Lopez for majority of the season to date. They also were without Murphy for a while. So considering all the challenges they've had thus far, being just two games under .500 isn't all that bad.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2025 Posted April 28, 2025 Two things on this whole Jarren Duran trying to fight a heckler thing. 1. Any Red Sox fan showing any indignation over the heckler is rich given the vile filth that is flying out of the majority of their fans’ mouths on a nightly basis. Very nasty people. 2. With the Sox coming to town this week and the Jays scuffling I would like to remind all Jays fans to remain polite and respectful. That is until Duran comes to the plate in a big spot at which point we need a few courageous fans to unleash on him. Yeah you’re probably getting kicked out of the game but we absolutely cannot fall any further behind in the standings right now. jaysblue and Spanky__99 2
