GDT: LCS... Mets @ Dodgers and Guardians @ Yankees! Giddy Up!

Ultimately, the Atkins era is probably coming to and end - not because of the team results, but because of their inability to draft and develop players. That's what has sewered our ability to maintain the success. But a few more coinflips in our favor between 2020 and 2023 and there would probably be a whole new perception on the Atkins era - when in reality - he had very little control over what happens once the playoffs start.

Think this is probably right. The playoffs are always unfortunately going to be at least somewhat luck based. If they weren't the 2015 Jays would be world series champions with what was definitely the best team in the league that year.

I would say there's some minor free agency failures as well, but really it's all about every single draft they've had post Bo Bichette.

Anthony Rizzo, Marcus Stroman On Yankees’ ALCS Roster

October 14th, 2024 at 10:26am CST • By Steve Adams

The Yankees announced their ALCS roster this morning, revealing that first baseman Anthony Rizzo and right-hander Marcus Stroman are back in the fold after sitting out their Division Series win over the Royals.

Rizzo suffered a pair of broken fingers when he was hit by a pitch in September and was seen as a borderline call for the League Championship Series as he worked through his rehab. Stroman was healthy but not included on the Division Series roster after skipper Aaron Boone made what he described as a difficult decision to exclude the veteran in favor of an extra bat in a five-game series. With the Yankees now likely to rely on four starters rather than three, Stroman is back in the mix.

yea it looked like Banda was coming in next but it's Knack who was their best starter down the stretch

That’s 4 now right??

Lindor

Teo

Lane Thomas

Vientos

Kind of crazy when we also had a ton of scoreless innings/shutouts early on in the post season

Opening game of NLCS TV ratings were more than double last year's and are the highest of any LCS in 15 years

That's awesome. Great for the game.

Dude has been unreal in the playoffs.

He's still only 24 as well.

Wonder if it makes it easier now for the Mets to part with Brett Baty.

why do you have to wonder that?

I suppose having two massive city fanbases helps, but it's also just been good baseball to watch this post season

Baty was a highly-touted prospect coming up and has some upside. Might be a great buy low.

They gotta do something about this umping, beautiful changup to Soto at the bottom of the zone and it was called a ball

Who’s gonna do something?

This could get interesting. Naylor's already got 2 hits. Based loaded, nobody out. Let's make this a game!

Gutsy call to leave Cole in. We'll see if this pays off.

lmao

One thing that could influence this decision, is that Vientos is a f***ing horrendous defender at 3B, like he looks hilariously out of place over there. So many missed plays that an average defender would make, good thing he can hit. He's a 1B/DH for me next season, likely replaces Pete Alonso for them. Can't even hide him in LF since he's already 23rd percentile in sprint speed at age 24 lol. Not like Baty is any better obviously.

Devers used to be “laughably bad” at 3B bit he’s stuck there for several years. Vientos will do the same unless he gets pushed out by a better 3B like Bregman. But I think the Mets will keep Alonso
