The Royals are a good example of a laughing stock team that has way more controllable talent than us.

This isn't positive sir.

That could change when we re-sign Bo and Vlad and hire a 30 year old hitting guru off Twitter and turn them back into gold.

I think Bichette might have the most easily identifiable flaw on the team.

The highest SLG of his career was when he was a 21 year old rookie. He had a 40% pull. Now it's 20% pull and he sucks. It has just been dropping linearly for 5 years.

Even if you say he's lost 10000 mph bat speed because he bulked, he's still young enough to return his body to pull Bichette body. Especially with our super duper high performance team who surely has no responsibility in him losing all his speed and range (sorry not positive). But it's the best most highest performing sports department around just trust me.

But more likely he's infected by some sort of brain virus like the rest of our hitters.

So ya I'd re-sign him.

What is ironic is that Bo identified the Jay as one of the teams he wanted to be drafted by and sign with because he felt they wouldn't try to change his swing. Bo seems quite studious and hard working and obviously works with Dante a lot. It would be interesting to see how much impact the Jays coaches have on his swing and approach. I would render a guess that Bo is primarily responsible, but I could be wrong.

What's interesting is Bo was actually WORSE in March/April 2022 than he was this year (and 2022 was his best year at the plate). I still think he'll hit this year.

Yeah I think Bo's issue is 100% approach

He thinks he's Derek Jeter but the tools aren't an exact match and even Jeter pulled the ball more than this version of Bichette

It's incredibly simple, really. He has the hit tool / bat speed / raw pop to be an easy .260 / 30 hitter annually and with enough hard hit balls and some luck he could still be the .300 hitter he dreams of being, sometimes.

He should be modeling his game on Manny Machado, not Derek flipping Jeter

This is a positive post because we have identified Manny Machado as a better role model and maybe the next hitting coach will see this and run with it

I like how Davis Schneider came up, saw everyone trying to hit singles the other way, but he just laughed and kept trying to pull home runs. Not even Mattingly (or whoever it is on the Jays who likes that approach) can mess with someone who knows what his strengths are. Maybe that’s a good sign for prospects coming up (trying to be positive in the positive thread).

Good observation. I suspect DS is HATED by the organization. He isn't listening or buying into their team hitting philosophies at all. Coaches must be foaming at the mouth that he won't do what's he's told. Jansen probably falls into this camp too. Good one them for being such rebels.

WAR per PA

Davis Schneider - 238 PA 2.6 WAR

Gunnar Hedneron - 900 PA 7.7 WAR

Of all the great franchises, the geniuses, the aces, Mike Elias greatest GM of all time, AA- Alex Anthopolous. These greats have chosen some great players.

But the great as rated by fWAR per PA is Davis Schneider

The plot actually gets deeper because we promoted the AAA hitting coach Hague to the mlb staff. So you have the guy who helped DS and Clement getting zip tied in the closet by Mattingly Martinez and Hunter Mense.

But Hunter Mense is the guy who actually has instagram and stuff. I think his handle is "dodamagehitting" or something that would make you think he is somewhat modern in thought. And he had like 6 years between the end of his pro career and the beginning of his coaching career, to maybe look at a computer or something.

Matt Hague went straight from playing to coaching and was only in the Jays system as a coach since 2020. Also, Mense is a twig which makes me think he is more of a nerd whereas Hague is beefier and he has a pronounced jawline, more neanderthal

You might have to delete your own response here. Calling someone a skinny nerd and another person a neanderthal? That's sexist/racist/ageism/offensive. Where's the positivity!?

Wasn’t Hague on the 2015 team for a cup of coffee? Dude was surrounded by alphas who would have choked any coach that suggested to hit the ball the other way or sacrifice power for contact (well, at least JD would have). Between that and the fact that the AAA hitters who have actually developed on this team (DS/Clement) seem to credit him, I’m all abroad the Hague train.

So just dump Mattingly and Guillermo

But Guillermo was in charge when we were one of the best offenses in baseball in 2020 and 2021. It's all Donny Baseball. Why the f*** did we hire a geezer?

Okay but did you see his beard this spring?

Why would someone who can grow that, ever shave that? Bizarre. Talk about an infield pop-up of a facial hair decision.

Didn’t like the IKF signing much but appreciating his D and bat to ball skills a lot more than I thought I would. He has been a good add so far and a million miles from being our issue.

I called Ross after the signing and said what do you see in IKF

He said "1.5 war in 450 PA"

Might be bang on. Playing time may be higher though

Funny you say that, I gave Shappy a dingle to congratulate him on this matter as well, and he said the same.

lol. And here you coming to spike a football for IKF passing .700 OPS for a few days when Jays are in a free fall dive worse than Negative Nancy’s were even thinking

Biggio is a FA after this year and he can play for someone else and we can stop seeing Max’s custom sample sizes and others chiming in on his untapped potential.

Biggio is a guy who is a solid bench player. When he's going well at the plate he finds himself in the lineup more frequently, and when he's not he largely rides the bench as has been the case recently. He's far from being a primary reason why the team has struggled to score given the offensive ineptitude of most of the top of the lineup so there's no need to expend so much energy hating on the guy.

He can't f***ing hit

Good example of opportunity cost

Over the last few years the Jays would have been much better served by trying out other players in his role. Guys with more tools, more potential for impact

This org is terrible, they make bad decisions and this is one of them.

He's basically a league average bat off of the bench who produces a win or so in about 300 PA per season. It would be great if he more resembled the player he was when he first came up I can't say I exactly see any minor league players in the system that have been blocked by Biggio's presence on the roster.
