They hired and fired Buntoyo. They hired and can fire Schneider. I don't care for him much, but he and the coaches aren't in the Top 5 issues for this team.

I know it's April (until tomorrow) but seriously, is Springer washed? Never seen him this overmatched at the plate.

 

His pull % is way down this season (even worse than last season) and his power is practically non existent. In his last 115 PA prior to tonight he has a 78 wRC+ and .069 ISO (which is not counting tonight's 0-4 with 3 K's). Washed compared to what he was? Absolutely. Washed in terms of sub 100 wRC+ player? Tough to say. His numbers should improve based on his luck so far but I'm not expecting much better than a 2 WAR/105 wRC+ type of season regardless. Father time gets everyone.

He's probably fine. His xwOBA is better than league average. He's mostly getting BABIP'd right now.

I would guess that they wanted to let regression work and give the top 3 a solid month to get comfortable but at some point in May if they don't immediately get hot they need to be demoted

In a nutshell I don't hate Vogelbach hitting 4th. It's whatever and he has good some good PAs this year.

But Varsho has been so good, just give him the nod to hit 4th. Respect thing. Confidence boost?

Yeah - I'm on board with that.

 

It's really sad, as the guys we had big questions marks about coming into the year like Varsho, Schneider - even Turner, IKF, etc. have all exceeded expectations. It's Vlad, Bo, Kirk and Springer who are responsible for this. They have s*** the bed completely. I'm still fairly convinced that Bo will hit. He's streaky, but he has such a proven record that unless he's playing hurt, he should hit. I'm not as optimistic about the rest.

 

Who's to blame for this? I think a HUGE % of it is on the players.
