BTS Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 Can’t wait to see more top notch pitching and defense
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 Anyone else starting to think the OF foul line walls are a liability? One home stand and we have seen Schendier almost die and Varsho go into it hard. We are going to see some injuries on these things over the years. They are just very close to the foul lines.

It's still early and I would guess our guys will get used to them a bit more going forward. Other stadiums have tight walls like this but I'm not sure if they also have turf where you can't tell be the material under your feet when you are getting close to the wall (although I don't think other teams have warning tracks on those walls?)

Similar to Fenway. They'll get used to it. Schneider did go into it hard though, lol.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2024 Author Posted April 17, 2024 Can’t wait to see more top notch pitching and defense Just think- as frustrating as it can be to watch us whiff with runners on base, imagine the other team striking out ten 10 times only to finally get some good swings late in the game and then Varsho makes the play anyway Yankee fans going to be furious after they score 2 runs today
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 Jays will either win 10-2 or lose 10-2 No middle ground today
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 Let’s sweep these *******s lol...
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2024 Author Posted April 17, 2024 Infield defense looking a little suspect today
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 Infield defense looking a little suspect today that's fine because KG only serves up nukes and piss missiles they might get like, 4 groundballs
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 Feels like we’d be better off with an 80-grade runner who can’t hit on the bench than Vogelbach

Laika Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 Feels like we’d be better off with an 80-grade runner who can’t hit on the bench than Vogelbach yeah Vogelbach's only function is DH when Turner needs a day off. And maybe pinch hitting once or twice a week. But with the emergence of Schneider and Clement... maybe it's better to just throw those 6 PA a week at one of them even if they don't have the platoon advantage?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 no. lol... he said 80 Grade Speed, Meat!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 Seriously though.. did Votto die? I believe I saw a report Sunday, that he was hitting off a tee, live BP was to follow, that ankle sprain must have barked a lot.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 Biggio at 3rd today eh. Interesting
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 Seriously though.. did Votto die? hasn't tweeted in 9 days he might be dead why is Atkins sweeping Votto's death under the rug though?
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 Seriously though.. did Votto die? Imagine being so old that stepping on a bat takes you out of commission for 3 months

Well that's what the warning track dirt is for. If it's not differentiable enough from the artificial grass, then that's the only thing that would need to change. Otherwise they'd just have to make the warning track on the sides extend even wider so fielders can get a sense for the wall earlier.

I didn't think Roger's centre had dirt at the track so the player have to rely on fans/teammates? Or has that changed in the renos?

Or has that changed in the renos? They use real dirt in the infield right? I can't imagine them not using this throughout, and if they aren't then they definitely will going forward.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 Nah, in the OF it's turf and brand new, they won't be changing that anytime soon. Surely there's a tangible difference between it and the "grass" turf of the outfield right? The warning track is as visual of an indicator as it is a tactile one to determine when you're about to run into the wall. Would be kind of egregious if it was only a visual difference on a turf field.

Looks the same to me when I saw both Varsho and Schneider twice go into that area, no dirt etc, and looks very similar to the green portion of it, almost like it's painted, I'm not sure though, just me talking out my ass... I was disappointed there was no real dirt track. This is where all purpose stadiums, drop the ball for baseball. Suxxxx
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 I think KK got some of that rubber s*** in his eye a couple games ago when he was chasing down a ball in CF.
