Agreed, but I wouldnÂ’t single Vlad out because Bo has been atrocious defensively. HeÂ’s going to be awfully surprised at the lack of interest in him as a SS come free agency.

 

Wonder if the neck is contributing to it, because Bo actually improved a lot last year on D but yeah this year he looks like the early 2020s defender he was.

 

At his age I doubt his next contract is to play at SS tbh.

 

Vladdy really has no excuse, 1B is the easiest position on the diamond and he can't pick a ball that hos 5 feet in front of him.

Babe had an .834 OPS against right handed pitching last year. Kids a stud. He might go 0 for 4 with 3 Ks some games, but he takes walks and when he makes contact he does damage. He's a doubles and home run hitter. We desperately need his power.

 

He also had a 1.011 OPS against RHP in AAA last season. There's really no logic to the platoon label that they seemed to have put on him, and there's no reason why he should be buried behind a bunch of 1.5 WAR talent who mainly get there with defense. Hopefully as the season progresses they figure out a way to play him everyday and learn to live with his bad games, but we'll probably have to wait a bit longer for that. As long as he keeps helping the team win when he does play, then that's all you can hope for in the meantime.

I wouldn't mind Biggio at 3rd and Schneider at 2nd for the next few games. Biggio looked decent there at the end of last season.

 

Or if they really want Biggio at 2nd, have Turner start at 3rd and Schneider DH. IKF and Ernie can come in for defence late in the game if the Jays have the lead, but the Jays need all the offence they can get right now.

At what point is it OK to point out that Bo and Vlad haven’t played very well on the road trip? The comments about Bo came minutes after he hit into a double play and then botched a ground ball defensively in the 9th.
