Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2024 Author Posted March 9, 2024 I know it's early but Springer looks washed.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 IKF is lost at the plate, can't say it's surprising .857 OPS, just sayin'
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 .857 OPS, just sayin' he worked a walk just as I posted this
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 Gruber already clowning on himself, lol.

Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 lol Eisert just got rocked Grand slam
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 can't come in and fall behind batters with the bases juiced
The_DH Verified Member Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 Quick analysis on Eisert: - a breaking ball that has no idea where the strike zone is - a fastball that makes a good 3rd pitch. No 2nd pitch noted.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 SSS alert, but interesting Future leadoff hitter?
The_DH Verified Member Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 Changeup is that elusive 2nd pitch. My point was more that his fastball sucks, his curve is all over the place and he doesn't have much else. In the old days he would be trying to be a LOOGY on the 26th best team.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 Eisert had a killer year in 2022 capped off by a great showing in the AFL. Many thought he was a goner in the rule 5 draft. He sucks now, been passed by a ton of relievers in the system.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 Gruber already clowning on himself, lol. He knows next to nothing about baseball. If it was up to him, Nathan Lukes would be the everyday RF over Springer.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 Hoffman sighting, LTBF's guy. lol

hanton Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 Horwitz .doesn't have a hit yet this spring. ouch
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 I gotta admit, Springer's contract is one you might want to get out from. Mmmm maybe but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him bounce back this year in a big way. I don’t think he’s washed after 1 bad season (where most of the team underperformed offensively) He had a record-high number of steals and remained healthy which is a better indicator of him still not being done.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 I gotta admit, Springer's contract is one you might want to get out from. Good luck with that. It was signed knowing it could suck on the back end, which ... it's still not even really doing yet. Last season 2.2 fWAR at 8 million per win = 17.6 million in value, or -7.4 million against the AAV. First 3 seasons combined... 72 million in value for 75 million. Of course it's more likely the last 3 seasons trend downward rather than up, but it's not an albatross by any stretch unless he turns into a replacement level player almost instantly.

Yeah its not bad. Would you sign Springer for 3/75 right now? Probably not, but that’s because he had a bad year last season and he’s getting up there in age. He still projects for more WAR than Cody Bellinger, who just signed a 3/80 deal. Recency bias plays a major role here. We’ll see in 2024 if Springer is over the hill or not.

Everybody gets old but I'm hoping Springer has a good year, but it's doubtful. You were whining and complaining about how Nathan Lukes better be making the team yesterday after watching him hit a triple. So yeah, you judge things on small spring samples

And before people misconstrue my arguement here, im not saying the last 3 years of his contract are likely to provide positive value, it certainly will not, but it also wont be anywhere near the levels of Rendon, Chris Davis, Cano... etc.
