Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 They should get everyone out of there safely and let Milton come back and take that entire Stadium. Roof wasn’t enough. They can still play Baseball there.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Soto is a gold glove finalist for RF lollll Varsho up for CF, Clement for 3B. Varsho is up against Duran for the GG, looking like he’ll get snubbed again

Varsho is up against Duran for the GG, looking like heÂ’ll get snubbed again It's kind of wild how Varsho is generally accepted to be the best defensive outfielder in the MLB, but because he's too good at two positions instead of one he gets snubbed from winning a GG at any one position because he didn't accumulate enough time in them. Why not just give him the award at whichever position he's played the most at, or just go back to giving GGs for OF instead of LF, CF and RF.
AMS528 Verified Member Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Moreno, LGJ, and Chapman are finalists as well.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Moreno, LGJ, and Chapman are finalists as well. But we HAD to get rid of guys for run prevention reazons
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Oh wow - that's a tough position to be in. I can appreciate that nobody wants to dump millions into that shithole.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Rays should play in Montreal next season.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Rays should play in Montreal next season. Under another roof that's barely staying up
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Rays should play in Montreal next season. I wonder if the Rays could play in Oakland next year. I hear its wide open
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Under another roof that's barely staying up Don't have to worry about Hurricanes in Montreal. Just bad snow storms. They would be used to playing in another s*** hole. Pretty much the O is like the Trop. Closest to home-field they would get haha.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 I wonder if the Rays could play in Oakland next year. I hear its wide open Since the Rays are an AL East team, I think Montreal would make the most sense. Only other option is if they play down in a ST park somewhere in Florida but that will be tough with minor league ball going on or Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Dunedin has enough capacity

Did any team move into the Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando after Atlanta left? It could be an option.

I’ve heard Montreal can’t host, apparently the dome was partially scrapped this summer. Unplayable there
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Dunedin has enough capacity Yeah Rays will likely play at one of the spring training facilities, possibly Yankees.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Yeah Rays will likely play at one of the spring training facilities, possibly Yankees. They just need an MLB sized field. Requiring large amounts of seating capacity isn't really a problem for the Rays: https://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Dave Stewart? Didn't he do enough damage as a GM?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Author Posted October 16, 2024 Reinsdorf is the 2nd longest tenured owner in MLB behind the Steinbreners. Bought the White Sox in 1981 for around 20 million. Most recent valuations have them at about 2 billion. 100-fold return after 40ish years on top of everything he's made off them in between. Solid return
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Dunedin has enough capacity Yeah but the Dunedin Jays play there throughout the season. It's gonna be tough to play at a ST ballpark since most are used during the season. George M. Steinbrenner Field is right next to the football stadium where the Bucs play, so it's right in Tampa. Don't think any minor league club plays there throughout the year.

Not sure if any team plays there throughout the year. They probably could schedule maybe like 40 or so home games during the regular season. Orlando is a tourist spot, so might get some decent attendance.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 I wondered that too but it looks like the Yankees A team Tampa Tarpons play there all summer too Ah darn. Not sure where else in Florida they could go.

The Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex might be the best fit. Would be hilarious (and sad?) if Tampa plays out of it and attendance increases this year...

Some at Disney, some in Puerto Rico, there are probably some other stadiums that can host a handful of games.

MLBPA would have to approve and some teams might object to playing somewhere else geographically. Could also play some games at the Marlins ballpark or Truist Park in Atlanta when they're not being used. Turner Field in Atlanta is still up, but Georgia State renovated it and turned it into a football stadium lol.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Would actually be cool if the Rays played some home games at the Rogers Centre if it's available haha.
