It's kind of mind boggling that that the AL Central is going to be sending 3 teams to the post season this year, and that there are only 2 teams in the AL East over .500

Yup this would have been a nice year to not be s***. Seeming like the final AL wildcard spot will only take 85ish wins.

Would be very funny if the O’s fell out of a spot too

Ohtani. #52

This one off a lefty with 2 strikes and the pitch up at his eyes - over the center field wall

I’m thinking his unemployed second cousin likely has a sizable wager on 55/55

Yeah Rays weren't really a force at all this season and while the Red Sox showed some glimpses of being contenders, they were just a .500 team pretty much.

AL Central has some decent teams and it isn't as bad of a division as its made out to be.

Cleveland really surprised me this season, especially considering they lost Bieber and McKenzie sucked and were without Gavin Williams until July. That's 3/5 of their rotation. Offensively, J-Ram is a stud, and they had some solid contributions from Naylor, Fry, Kwan, and Noel.

Kansas City had a nice offseason and I thought of them as a team who could be a sleeper. They solidified their rotation with Lugo & Wacha to go along with Ragans. As for Detroit, they have some nice young pieces and have got hot at the right time. Twins are meh, but they had a solid rotation in Lopez, Ryan (when healthy), and Ober, plus some young guys who were able to step in. As for their lineup, they got guys like Correa, Buxton & Lewis all healthy. Any of those guys could dominate in a short series and be a difference maker.

AL Central isn't that bad of a division. Like sure it's not a power house like the AL East could be when all teams are clicking, but Cleveland, Kansas, Minnesota and Detroit all had solid seasons.

And just one absolutely terrible team not 2-3 anymore

Yeah exactly. Had some years where Kansas and Detroit were also terrible.

White Sox are a disaster haha.

"The Yankees designated Marinaccio for assignment Friday. Marinaccio has collected a 3.86 ERA and 25:10 K:BB over 23.1 innings during his time with the Yankees this season. A career 12.6 percent walk rate is scary, but the 29-year-old also has a career 28.3 percent strikeout rate and is under team control for multiple seasons. He figures to draw interest via trade or waivers."

Would be an interesting target for the BP and who would be cheap. Hope the Blue Jays claim him.

50/50 ball update, since you all want to know.

They’re saying $500k now but will be more. The best stories for people like me with a dark sense of humor are guys like this, that miss it by inches and may spend the rest of their life reliving the moment in agony lol

https://www.latimes.com/sports/story/2024-09-20/shohei-ohtani-50-50-home-run-ball-value

Only 14k people there that night. Probably 5k in bleachers. Not a bad lotto ticket

Wouldn’t give up that ball for any less than 2 million USD after taxes.

Would be a miracle if he got to us but instant claim if he does.

We'd be claiming 4th, hardly a miracle, bro.

Jays have the 4th worst record in the league?

Remember it's no longer AL/NL priority based on what team he played for just reverse winning percentage league wide.

Oh s***, I wasn't aware, so they'd be claiming 8th, thanks. Still a chance I guess. He's worth a minor trade.

Paul Skenes absoutely carving up the Reds right now. He seems to have developed a 70-grade changeup out of nowhere over the last couple of months.

It’ll be interesting to follow the career progression of him and Kumar. Not unlike say Trout and Harper in the beginning.

lol

I only saw about his game against Jays couple days ago but he’s got impeccable control normally, so just an outlier start. I watched some clips and stuff looked nice on K’s I saw

I'm gonna try to go down to Pittsburgh in April or May next season for one weekend to catch a series. Definitely want to see Skenes pitch in person!

Tigers leapfrog the Royals and Twins...

The Tigers beat the O’s this weekend. The Twins were playing the Red Sox. The Tigers finish the season against the CWS. I believe the Twins play the O’s.

Tigers taking care of business.
