John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2024 Author Posted June 9, 2024 not sure if you caught the Kike incident? He was mic'd up with the Apple crew - talking to him during the play - he commits an error; he's clearly pissed but they continue to talk to him lol Next inning.....he gets picked off 1st. They might want to re-think this Did you know players get paid extra to be mic'd up? $10,000 for wearing the 2-way wire for at least 1 inning.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 I'm not so sure what they're taking baldilocks, get it together dude? Spanky Longstockings and his jokes. Why were you even up during the daytime today anyway?
John Balkabella Verified Member Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Teo’s having a pretty good year.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Mashing Teo .240 ISO. 17 bombs. Happy for him. Hmmm so the Dodgers front office is smarter than fangraphs?? That’s crazy yo. I thought steamer projections were gospel.

Jays didn’t try to get s***. I could probably Google Mike Trout/Bluejay rumor and find something. There weren’t serious discussions you know about.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Jays soured on Teo. Didn’t fit their plans for 2023. Same plans they had for 2024. Spanky is full of s*** Spanky, I’d be disappointed to hear that you’ve never been to Scotland. I’m sure you could probably tell me what the Loch Ness monster looks like that time you saw it.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Hmmm so the Dodgers front office is smarter than fangraphs?? That’s crazy yo. I thought steamer projections were gospel. Teoscar was a 130-140 wRC+ player from 2020-22, and then had something like a 126 wRC+ on the road last season. He was destroyed by Safeco and prior to this season looked like a potential buy low candidate. He would have been a really good pick up for the Jays, though if it’s between the Jays and Dodgers on a short term deal, he clearly made the right choice.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Remember all that mocking the Philadelphia Phillies used to get here? Does anyone else remember that? I mean some pretty harsh abuse on how horrible that org was run…. Spanky, do you have any time tonight to find me some receipts on that? Lmk.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Actually, Teo said the Jays would not match the 1 yr deal. Where? I'm not kidding, never heard anything like that.

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Where? I'm not kidding, never heard anything like that. Hernández had a somewhat weak market, but there were a few teams interested in his services. One of those clubs was the Blue Jays, but decided not to match what the Dodgers offered Hernández, via Shi Davidi of Sportsnet: “At the beginning, they said to not forget about them. Obviously when we exchanged numbers and years and all that stuff, they said they could not go that far. That was about it.” - Teo From the Dodgers Blue website

One of those clubs was the Blue Jays, but decided not to match what the Dodgers offered Hernández, via Shi Davidi of Sportsnet: Jays are literally on every player in baseball it seems. So I’m sure they talked to him like everyone else, but there was never any hot stove news linking him to Jays like other players have been. It’s a story only bc he used to play here..

They kept tabs on everyone from more obvious fits like incumbent third baseman Matt Chapman and centre-fielder Cody Bellinger to old friend Teoscar Hernandez, although there was never traction on any of those fronts. “Honestly, not really,” said Hernandez, who signed a $23.5 million, one-year deal with the Dodgers. “At the beginning, they said to not forget about them. Obviously when we exchanged numbers and years and all that stuff, they said they could not go that far. That was about it.” Hazel Mae followed this up with her talk with him, it was multi years or nothing. That story is fabricated by you both.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 ********... Hazel Mae followed this up with her talk with him, it was multi years or nothing. That story is fabricated by you both. Who is BS?? The Dodgers didn’t offer a multi year deal. The Blue Jays would not match the 1 yr deal. Fact. The Jays did not lose Teo because of years, it was $$$.
John Balkabella Verified Member Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 It’s a story only bc he used to play here.. No, it is a story because Vlad, Bo, and George have sixteen. Not good enough.

The jays did not lose teo because of years, it was $$$. o rly.... teoscar hernández signed for chance to win world series hernández explained that he signed with l.a. Over other interested teams for a chance to win the world series and test free agency again next year. “there weren’t that many choices in the market this offseason,” hernández said. “obviously, we want to know how the market is right now and how teams are approaching all the players and all the free agents. “and for me, it wasn’t hard to make the decision to go to the dodgers, because i know going to the organization is going to give me more experience. “it’s going to give me the things that i want in this free agency because i wanted to go to a team that can compete and can be in the playoffs and a good team and a good organization that makes me a better player. So that’s one of the biggest reasons why i signed with the dodgers.”
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 He said as much in ST CD... I heard it, in a talk with Hazel, multi years or nothing, he chose the Dodgers, period. You're being disingenuous.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Teo is turning into this year's Gurriel and Moreno. Everytime he does something good we get to hear about how the Jays missed out. This assumes two things: 1. That the Jays could have signed him at all 2. That he'd be doing the same thing in Jays uniform

Thanks for basically just proving me right that essentially his talk with the Jays amounted to pleasantries
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 o rly.... All three things can be true Spank. No one offered him multi year. The Jays would not match the Dodgers one year offer. Obviously if the Dodgers have a better offer on any one year deals he is going to choose the Dodgers for best $ offer and all the other items he mentioned. Fact is, the Jays did not/would not match the 1 yr offer to even give him something to think about. It was not because of no multi year deal.
